Hello to the present generation reading this, I’m Mide, a bundle of pure sarcasm and a little bit of logic in flesh and if I could create a digital time capsule, trust that it would present nothing but how sarcasm looked like in our present time. So everyone, you can put your faith in me to pass on our legacy, lol.
As you probably can already tell, this time capsule is gonna be chaotic but beautiful, a proper depiction of everything that defines my online life today. Even though, posting cute selfies is a big part of my online presence (I want my grandkids to boast that their grandma was hot in her time, thank you very much), for me, it’s more about what value I’m bringing to the media space actually.
First of all, taking the crown for apps goes to none other than Instagram because that’s where my voiceover and content creation journey thrives. If people 50 years from now want to understand me, scrolling through my IG reels will give them a hint. That is where I balance giving beauty and fashion advice, hosting femininity webinars, teaching confidence, showcasing my voiceover and videography skills alongside throwing in a little unhinged humor every now and then. My IG page arrangement and aesthetic depicts how I love being in control of my space and life, although, ironically, the universe looks at me, smirks and then throws me things that are way out of my control; don’t we just love the universe?
Then, of course, there’s WhatsApp, because my status updates? Absolutely unpredictable. Future historians should analyze them when doing a study on how quick women’s mood swings—one minute it’s “how to build generational wealth, become an independent yet submissive woman,” the next it’s “do you think men with deep voices have a do it intentionally?” Important conversations, obviously. And let’s not forget Hive, where my writing skills become bestie with my untethered overthinking ability. If someone in 2075 stumbles upon my old posts, I hope they find inspiration, laughter, and maybe even a little bit of wisdom in my words, but more importantly, I hope it makes me smile and think, “how iconic was she!?”. Ha ha.
Now, no digital time capsule is complete without memes because trust me, they need to understand the culture that was the “girl math” era, the “period” trend, and why sending a sticker in contrast to typing is the go-to OG response, because, if you don’t have at least 70 stickers for different reactions, are you even truly living online?

Let’s talk about music! Best believe I’m leaving my playlists behind like sacred texts, they need to be treated delicately please, those got me through heartbreaks and that one luteal phase that had me believing I was depressed. My digital footprint is incomplete without the moody R&B, the nostalgic throwbacks, the occasional “main character energy” soundtracks, the K-drama OSTs and the sing-along Barbie tracks. Oh, let’s not forget the Rap songs for when I’m feeling like a gangster. Also, if by then they don’t know the greatness of Afrobeats and pop, let my playlist be their introduction.
But beyond the aesthetics and sarcasm, I’d want a time capsule to reflect something slightly deeper, how I used my digital space to uplift and empower. I’d want people to see that I wasn’t just curating a beauty reels but also sharing real, raw, and sometimes messy moments. That I used my voice to teach women how to own their confidence, embrace self-love, and step into their femininity with a high level of self-esteem.
So, dear future generations, if you’re reading this, just know that 2025 me was doing her thing; laughing, learning, growing, and making the most of the digital world, jumping from one App to the other. Oh, except dating Apps, I can’t with those interview-like getting-to-know-you questions. Bye now.
