It is normal, being curious or imagining what things will be like has possibly driven human development to current levels. In truth, predicting exactly what the world and society will be like in fifty years is a difficult task due to the complexity and number of variables at play. Although we can all make our assumptions and we will surely be right in some of them.
Today I am going to be talking to you about what the world of the future will be like in my opinion, exactly fifty years from now. Read carefully and at the end comment on whether you agree or disagree with me.
What will the world be like in fifty years?
If we start from what others have already dreamed of, we have two great currents, the catastrophic and the idealistic. Let us then analyze these points of view.
Let's start with the "bad". According to the catastrophic vision, the world is most likely hostile or post-apoclyptic. This option is not entirely unreasonable, never before in this new millennium have we been closer to a nuclear or global conflict. All it takes is the detonation of a few nuclear warheads and we're all screwed. Even if this disaster does not occur, pollution levels accelerate climate change at a rate that may mean we do not have enough time to adapt.
On the other hand, there is the idealistic scenario where technological development will be such that we will have smart and ecological cities all over the world. Peace, rainbows and happiness. This idea of the future, humanity has been imagining since the 19th century when the Universal Exhibitions became famous, it still has not happened.
The future that awaits us
If a global nuclear war doesn't wipe us out first, the world in fifty years should look pretty much like this.
Artificial intelligence will be natively incorporated into many systems and processes. Although human intervention will still be required to monitor results or to better guide process orders, artificial intelligence combined with robotics and automation will reduce the need for human labor. This will cause a migration in terms of professions and jobs. It may even generate social or geographical tension since this technological impact will not be the same throughout the world. There will be nations that adopt it faster than others.
This same dynamic will have a demographic impact, slowing down the growth of the world population. An impact that is already seen is that the oldest age group increases its percentage of the total population, which poses challenges in terms of health care and pensions.
On the other hand, we could face a health crisis due to the antibiotic resistance of some bacteria caused by the excessive use of these medicines. A solution would be in biotechnology and the creation of viruses that attack bacteria in the form of vaccines.
Globalization and the interconnection between people, cultures, economies and societies around the world will become even greater. Generating greater cultural and economic exchange, but at the same time it could accentuate global inequality, international conflicts and the impact of terrorist organizations. The latter could serve as an excuse for the loss of privacy in general of individuals in society. It is already seen today that as technology plays an increasingly central role in our lives, governments are ignoring ethics and more private data is being collected in the name of governance. How the population reacts to restrictions and violations of privacy can determine a freer or more oppressed society.
We are also likely to see significant changes in the way it is taught in schools and universities. Almost certainly, technical-professional self-study will gain value and the university will remain only for a specific group of professions.
In the same way, climate change will modify the way we build, cultivate, and the customs of certain areas on the planet.
No, I don't think there will be flying cars and an ideal society in fifty years. I hope it will be a better society, but there will always be remnants of the current conflicts (if they do not increase).
In short, the world and society in fifty years will likely be driven by technological advances, demographic shifts, environmental and social challenges, and greater global interconnectedness. However, I remind you that these are just my analysis and that the future is always uncertain.

¿Cómo será el futuro? ¿Cómo será el mundo dentro de cincuenta años? Muchas personas se hacen estas preguntas. Es normal, sentir curiosidad o imaginar como serán las cosas posiblemente hayan impulsado el desarrollo humano hasta los niveles actuales. En verdad predecir exactamente cómo será el mundo y la sociedad en cincuenta años es una tarea difícil debido a la complejidad y la cantidad de variables en juego. Aunque todos podemos lanzar nuestras suposiciones y de seguro acertaremos en alguna.
Hoy te voy a estar hablando de cómo será el mundo del futuro en mi opinión, exactamente dentro de cincuenta años. Lee con atención y al final comenta en que estás o no de acuerdo conmigo.
¿Cómo será el mundo dentro de cincuenta años?
Si partimos de lo que ya otros han soñado tenemos dos grandes corrientes, los catastróficos y los idealistas. Analicemos entonces estos puntos de vista.
Empecemos por lo "malo". Según la visión catastrófica lo más probable es que el mundo sea hostil o postapoclíptico. Esta opción no es del todo descabellada, nunca antes en ese nuevo milenio hemos estado más cerca de un conflicto nuclear o mundial. Basta la detonación de algunas ojivas nucleares y estamos jodido todos. Incluso, en caso de que no ocurra este desastre, los niveles de contaminación aceleran el cambio climático a un ritmo que puede provocar que no tengamos suficiente tiempo para adaptarnos.
Por otro lado, está el escenario idealista donde el desarrollo tecnológico será tal que tendremos ciudades inteligentes y ecológicas en todo el mundo. Paz, arcoiriris y felicidad. Esta idea de futuro la humanidad la viene imaginando desde el siglo XIX cuando se hicieron famosas Exposiciones Universales, aún no sucede.
El futuro que nos espera
Si una guerra nuclear mundial no nos desaparece antes, el mundo dentro de cincuenta años debería ser bastante parecido a lo siguiente.
La inteligencia artificial estará incorporada de modo nativo en muchos sistemas y procesos. Si bien aún se requerirá intervención humana para supervisar los resultados o para orientar mejor las órdenes de los procesos, la inteligencia artificial de conjunto con la robótica y la automatización disminuirá la necesidad de mano de obra humana. Esto provocará una migración en cuanto a profesiones y puestos de trabajo. Incluso se puede generar una tensión social o geográfica pues este impacto tecnológico no será igual en todo el mundo. Habrá naciones que lo adopten más rápido que otras.
Esta misma dinámica tendrá un impacto demográfico realentizando el crecimiento de la población mundial. Un impacto que ya se ve es que la franja etaria más anciana aumenta su porcentaje respecto a la población total, lo que plantea desafíos en términos de cuidado de la salud y pensiones.
Por otro lado podríamos enfrentar una crisis sanitaria debido a la resistencia a antibióticos de algunas bacterias provocado por el uso excesivo de estas medicinas. Una solución estaría en la biotecnología y la creación de virus que ataquen las bacterias en forma de vacunas.
La globalización y la interconexión entre personas, culturas, economías y sociedades en todo el mundo serán aún mayores. Generando un mayor intercambio cultural y económico, pero a la vez podría acentuar la desigualdad global, los conflictos internacionales y el impacto de organizaciones terroristas. Esto último podría servir de excusa para la pérdida de la privacidad en general de los individuos en la sociedad. Ya se ve en la actualidad que a medida que la tecnología juega un papel cada vez más central en nuestras vidas, los gobiernos se saltan la ética y en nombre de la gobernanza se recopilan mayor cantidad de datos privados. El como reaccione la población ante las restricciones y vulneración de la privacidad puede determinar una sociedad más libre o más oprimida.
También es probable que veamos cambios significativos en la forma en que se enseña en las escuelas y universidades. Casi seguro que el autoaprendizaje técnico-profesional cobrará valor y la universidad quedará solo para un grupo específico de profesiones.
De la misma manera, el cambio climático modificará la forma en la que se construye, se cultiva y las costumbres de determinadas zonas en el planeta.
No, no creo que haya autos voladores y una sociedad ideal dentro de cincuenta años. Espero que sea una mejor sociedad, pero siempre habrán remanentes de los conflictos actuales (si es que no se incrementan).
En resumen, el mundo y la sociedad en cincuenta años probablemente estará impulsado por avances tecnológicos, cambios demográficos, desafíos ambientales y sociales, y una mayor interconexión global. Sin embargo, te recuerdo que estas son solo mi análisis y que el futuro siempre es incierto.
