Como todo género, que bebe y nace de lo urbano, el reparto intenta emular o más bien reflejar la realidad de las calles cubanas, principalmente los barrios más marginados, que es donde se crían y empiezan a dar los primeros pasos de su carrera artística sus principales cultivadores. Otro arte qué también usa mucho este recurso en la isla es el Cine cubano el cual goza de mayor prestigio en cuanto a la “alta cultura" se refieren, aunque ambos sirvan casi a modo de espejo de las venturas y las desventuras de Cuba utilizando el realismo sucio ( o más bien la porno - miseria) como vía expresiva para esto. Un poco el cambio de paradigma para el reparto viene con el éxito, que el nivel de vida y la realidad de sus propios creadores cambia, así como también cambia el público que los consume. Porque si antes sé así música para un público mayormente en la misma posición de desventaja social, ahora se hace música para un público más amplio y el discurso debe cambiar así como en menor medida la sonoridad.
Desde Chocolate MC hasta Charly y Yojahiron (quienes son las caras más representativas de inicios y la actualidad del género) hemos tenido una enorme cantidad de exponentes que iban enriqueciendo al género cada uno en su etapa de mayor popularidad (porque eso sí hay que tener claro que por las características del mercado y la oferta, la popularidad en el reparto es efímera, algo parecido a lo que sucede en el Kpop). Los formatos también han variado, pasamos de solistas que buscaban en principio colaboraciones con artistas más grandes en un principio mayormente de reggaeton para afianzar la popularidad ganada con sus propios éxitos a tener dúos donde a veces se busquen actitudes o una visualidad contrastantes entre sus miembros llegar a diferentes sectores dentro del público (mayormente joven y en la actualidad con una te decía al sector femenino). La música es un elemento vivo en constante evolución y más cuando hablamos de este tipo de géneros qué van de la mano con el devenir social de una nació. La aparición de nuevos elementos como discográficas, patrocinios, representantes, etc., moldean el género, pero en cierta medida son necesarios (no hay que olvidar que la verdadera internacionalización del Reparto vino dada por estos autores).
