Hi there Hivers I'm backkk! It's me @yourcap back with another life update! These past few months have been a difficult one adjusting to city life and the demands of studying. I've been super busy, but I promise to share more updates with you all soon!
Today, I'm excited to talk about one of my absolute favorite subject right now: NSTP! You know why? well, it's because it's been an amazing way for me to connect with my classmates and get to know them on a deeper level. We've built some really amazing friendships through this class. As I expected NSTP was not a boring subject. From the start of the first semester all the way until now, we’ve been constantly engaged in a lot engaging and fun activities. I'm already so excited to see what we come up with next semester!
Here's a more detailed look at the activities we did during our first semester:
1.The Jigsaw Puzzle Challenge:
After dividing ourselves into groups, Sir Marwin revealed our first challenge – a collaborative jigsaw puzzle! Each group received envelope filled with puzzle pieces. The excitement quickly turned into focus and collaboration as we started trying to put the puzzles together. But then in the middle of the game we encountered a surprising trick: one piece of the puzzle was missing from each group's envelope! Sir Marwin had cleverly placed it within the set of another team’s puzzle pieces to raise the challenge level. This led to a truly fun and engaging experience where we had to actively strategize and communicate effectively to surpass this unexpected challenge. So my other group mates roamed around to the other groups to find the missing piece until they found it.
2.The Blindfolded Obstacle Course:
Our second activity was an absolutely fun! Our team was the first to take the challenging blindfolded obstacle course. The rules were simple: one member of the group would be blindfolded, while their teammates would provide verbal directions. If the blindfolded player completely goes to the finish line without touching any obstacles around, then that's a point. This activity was an excellent exercise in collaborative communication, requiring everyone to focus and support each other. But in this game, we struggled because it's not easy commanding, saying, "Step your right foot, face to the left, step a little bit on your left," because the blindfolded player cannot see anything, and it is difficult to balance seeing all black. Although there was some frustration and many laughs, it was a great way for us to learn the value of detailed instructions and teamwork!
3.The Tallest Tower:
Next, Sir Marwin asked us to bring scratch papers to class. At first we were confused about what we were going to do with the papers that sir told us to bring. After everyone had contributed their scratch papers, he built anticipation by adding that they would be utilized in the next activity. Then everyone find papers on their bags even the reviewers, after we pass the papers sir announced the next activity which is making the tallest tower just using the papers we passed and a scotch tape. We were initially hesitant building a tower using only paper and tape appeared to be an impossible task. However, after a session of brainstorming and sharing of ideas and strategy, our hesitation slowly dissolved. We found ourselves quickly dividing roles and working together. Each member took ownership of their task, from crafting the base to skillfully applying the tape to reinforce the structure. Once completed, there was a surprise element to the activity; a durability test! Not knowing the test was coming, our tower was in jeopardy of falling short, but to our surprise we managed to get it done. It was incredibly rewarding that our tower pass the durability test that sir did, our tower stays strong up until the end.
4.Human Knot:
To conclude our first semester, we did the Human Knot challenge. After selecting two group leaders, then they go in the front with the other groups then sir announced the game. The activity started when one appointed leader from other group had to tangle all of the group members into a complex human knot. The other leader’s responsibility was to untangle the group using clear and concise verbal instructions, without any touching. When one of our leader started untangling us focus on following her instructions that make us untangled only in a short time. Successful completion lies on trust and effective communication. It pushed us to use creative problem-solving and communication.
That's all for or first semester activities. THAK YOUUU! for your time reading my blog, SEE YOU AROUND! I'll be sharing more about our second semester activities. Stay tuned, Hivers!
