One of the more common things I notice when I overhear people talking, is just how many appear to be in some kind of a codependent relationship with what I call the “One True Lie” (OTL) - which is simply the master narrative that’s constantly being sliced & diced & fed to us from ALL corporate-controlled media sources.
This OTL is the same firehose/funnel through which ALL propaganda comes to us, and also what those despotic powers use to justify their actions and to lay the groundwork for more skulduggery to come.
What is mind-boggling to me is how, going back to the period of Occupy at least, we, as a collective, had a MUCH more adversarial relationship with those wealthy and ruthless powers that be.
At some level and of course to different degrees, there existed in that time, a rather foundational belief that THEY were the 1% and that WE were the 99%! Right?
That was the story, was it not? I’m not crazy, am I? I mean, people who now seem so bitterly polarized around various divisive “wedge” issues - were in that earlier time, largely united in their opposition to the 1%. In any case, it sure as hell seemed that way to me. I mean you went to a party, and nobody was bad mouthing Occupy. We were as a people more united.
Today, as it is often pointed out and all too clearly demonstrated, many many millions of us have developed this new relationship to power where we feel obliged to make EXCUSES for the OTL, by way of convincing ourselves and others that the 1% corporations are RIGHT, that the military is RIGHT, that Wall Street is RIGHT, that the venal politicians are RIGHT and that the stupid homocidal biopharma companies are RIGHT!
Holy Mother of God, WTF happened to us? This is what I mean by “codependent.” actions which justify the perpetuation of abuse.
These forces, these corporations and billionaires have no fucking use for you and I. They are every one of them like alcoholic psycho parents who would just as soon smack you in the head, as look at you.
Almost everything that happens now that qualifies as a national news story boils down in some way to yet another attack on our individuality, on sovereignty, on our freedoms, on our ability to stay healthy and happy and on our ability to make a living and take care of our family.
And yet people are actually running around here accusing anybody who raises an objection or offers a criticism of these evil shits, a “Conspiracy Theorist” or a “Trump Supporter” or a racist or a transphobe or whatever the distraction of the day might be.
The shit is running deep here folks and I think we each have to figure out how to get to some higher ground in order to see more clearly what’s happening down there in the ANTHILL... cause, I’m telling you, it ain’t pretty… which I suppose explains why people work SO damn hard to avoid seeing the obvious scale of the cruel dysfunction with a saner, more impartial and objective eye.
