Every day I'm becoming more and more aware of both data mining and privacy concerns. I've decided to be a little more careful with my internet habits.
Example One:
A short while back I was in the process of changing my personal e mail address. During the process of signing up for a new gmail address I was struck by their invasive terms of service. Try reading it and see if it makes you nervous or not! I bailed out at the point where it asked me if I accepted their terms! I didn't click the button, would you?
I opted instead for the end to end encryption offered by protonmail.com

Example Two
While catching up on the latest news I was presented with a link to an interesting looking article. Before allowing me to read it look at these terms of service that they expected me to agree to:
After reading the above I decided that I could manage without reading that particular article.
What About You?
- Are you becoming more aware of the invasive nature of "free" email and search engine services?
- Are you doing anything to protect your privacy?
- In what other areas would you suggest that more internet caution be used?
Thanks for following me on my travels and I look forward to sharing my adventures with you.
Note: If you're waiting for the results from my last two contests please be patient with me. I'm travelling in Italy right now but I hope to post them when I'm back home at the end of this week.
Until next time,
