A common misconception about Bitcoin is that it is private. But the public ledger allows anyone to look at all the historical transactions. Although your name is nowhere to be found in the public ledger, it clearly states every transaction of your accounts.
For some blockchain projects, privacy is imperative. Advanced cryptography can be used to obfuscate the senders account, the amount being sent and the receivers account and IP addresses. Several blockchain projects make it a lot harder to see WHO transacted HOW MUCH to WHOM.
