I wanted to share with you briefly who Prodigy of Mobb Deep was. His relevance in the hip hop music industry is nothing short of exceptional. He literally is responsible for the careers of many hip hop artists including 50 Cent, Eminem, CNN (Capone N Noreaga). At the time when the east and west coast were having their hip hop beefs, Mobb Deep was one of the few artist that were standing strong for New York and never backed down. These guys come from the days of sneaking rusty weapons in the club. They represented the hardcore, grittiness of the New York streets and were emulated by almost every New York artists out there. THIS IS NOT A POPCORN RAPPER people. Prodigy passing away is like hearing 50 cent passing away, seriously! Prodigy was well respected and just as relevant as your Jay-Z's, and Nas'. My fear however is that fans of hip hop have gotten so out of touch that they will let Prodigy's passing come and go. I think that if we let that happen, that will be a serious injustice for hip hop. You can check more of Prodigy's music out to continue his legacy. Two of my favorite albums in particular were; "Hell On Earth" and "Murda Muzik". Check him out and do your research. Prodigy may not be here but his music shall live on forever.
