The Psalm 132 is a psalm dedicated to David's faithfulness to God and how God blessed King David and his descendants with a great promise. The Psalm 132 is a psalm that shows us how works a spiritual law, the like seeks the like: "Every living thing loves its own kind, and we all love someone like ourselves. Every living being keeps close to its own kind; and people associate with their own kind" Ben Sira 13:15-16. The Lord and King David maintained a spiritual friendship that passed all the tests, and that is today a source of inspiration for those who seek God, a friendship that was not based on profit, but on the most perfect thing, the goodness of both.
Psalm 132 is fundamentally a psalm of praise to God and thanks for his blessing. David after the conquest of Jerusalem and making it his capital gave stability to his Kingdom, and it was thus that David planned a temple worthy of the Lord, the first temple of Jerusalem.
This is how the Bible describes David's concern to make a house worthy of the God of Abraham and Jacob:
"He swore an oath to the LORD,
he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
´I will not enter my house
or go to my bed,
I will allow no sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place for the LORD,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob" Psalm 132:2-5.
And God for the love of David, made a pact with him through the words of the prophet Nathan, a descendant of his would inherit a kingdom that would not be destroyed and that it would not be subject to the power of death, the Psalm thus recalls the promise of the Lord:
"The LORD swore an oath to David,
a sure oath he will not revoke:
´One of your own descendants
I will place on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant
and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
on your throne for ever and ever" Psalm 132:11-12.
And the Psalm ends by prophesying the arrival of a scion of David, who will be a lamp for the nations:
"Here I will make a horn grow for David
and set up a lamp for my anointed one" Psalm 132:17.
