Here at the camp site, as in most of my life, I prefer to bring a smile to people. I could just have plants, sure, but I prefer that as people look closer and closer, they see more and more details hidden. And I like it when people, as they discover some tiny hidden thing, they smile.
Below: Top left are the herbs planted, swimming thru the center are pachysandra, hosta, native and transplanted grasses, and some exotic flowers and perennials One of our challenges here, is we're under some heavy pine cover, so, plants need to be tolerant of partial shade, and an acidic soil...
Below: Oregano
Above: Perhaps later today, or tomorrow, I will pick this Cucumber and add it to my harvests.
Below: Back row, hanging flowers, 6 tomato plants, and a cucumber. Front: Beach Rose, two Salvia, some pansies, and a rose.
No surprise, the beach rose is doing great, better than the other rose bush, with the sandy soil here! Next year's plantings, need to take into consideration the shade, the sandy clay acidic soil. The lavender I planted here, is struggling. Mostly the acidic soil is to blame. I'll need to amend the soil to help it next year. And future plantings need to be based on the real conditions.
