I've been harvesting all spring and summer, and most of the fruits and vegetables have come from lower on the plants. However, lately, I have noticed the vegetables are coming from on the trellis. In the Above image, did you see the weird shape of that one cucumber? It grew through the fence, and you can see where the spines of the fence pinched the cuke. ODD, too, as one side became FAT and huge, almost like a squash or pumpkin gourd.
Speaking of Cucumber, it seems, the plants have taken their time, but, now they are growing tall and up and over the top of the trellis, like these two cucumber plants, below!
Below Looking back thru the trellis, you can see the cucumber growing over the top left. And on the right, the tomato are climbing and growing over top right.
Below On the far side, left, the two potato containers are filled with many greens. Looks like, as long as we don't get some rot, we'll have some good potato harvests for the second planting.
I cheated, however. I planted seeds in mid July, too, and those seedlings got planted in early August. Call it a second planting of tomato, too! So, while the first batch of plants are dying off, the second batch will be ready maybe two weeks after and should give me a second harvest, for about 3 or 4 weeks before the frost kills those off, too.
Still to come: more tomato, a few peppers, a few pickling cucumber, some zucchini for fall, some peas, for fall, and of course, the lettuces, right until hard frost.
