Lately, I had a screening at a cool place called Apteka Designu, organized by SLOT ART here in Krakow. The event wasn’t as big as their usual festival, but it still had plenty of activities throughout the day. How did I end up there?
ONE DAY BEFORE SCREENING
My original idea was to rent a cinema, invite guests from various professional fields, and have @mcsamm himself join live to create my own event. However, I ran into several issues trying to secure funding and make it all happen. Eventually, I realized that I couldn’t keep up with the pace it required, so I decided not to move forward with the original plan. Instead, I’m now exploring other options - I mentioned it there
So, I recently had a screening during SLOT Art Day here in Krakow. It wasn’t my own event, so I made a conscious decision not to go all-in on promotion. I invited a few selected people, but not everyone. Maybe if everything had gone according to my original plan, I would've felt more confident putting it out there more publicly—but this felt right for where things are now.
One of the people who happened to be in Krakow that day was @gtg. He had already seen the film back in Split, but was curious to check out the Polish translation this time around—just to see how it held up. A few others came along as well: @mtyszczak with his partner as well as @michalinamio, some folks from SLOT Art who are passionate about social change, and even a few who wandered in by chance.
It wasn’t a packed theater or a major premiere, but it was intimate, honest, and just enough. And for everyone else - I’ll make sure they get to see it once it’s ready to go online.
The screening had a very private feel, even though it was open to the public. Still, I’m glad that people outside of the Hive community had a chance to see it. After the film, we held a short Q&A, and some attendees were genuinely impressed by the possibilities that Hive has to offer.
My plan now is to screen Water Direct at the 10th anniversary of @krolestwo in JUNE 2025 , and then release it online for everyone to watch—and let it live on.
