The Zekely is supposed to be weekly but doesn't seem to happen that way lately. So, there is simply more adventure packed in when it has been 3 full summer weeks.
This edition, I am doing all kinds of summery things I have waited all year to do!

On the Last Episode...

...I was chugging pints and jamming with the guys for a 2 set music festival we have coming up.

This edition, a little of the same as the festival is in a couple weeks and we got together for another jam. 3 rehearsals for a couple hours of music seems a little thin but that's how you roll when everyone is so busy. These sessions are the best.

Golf!

There hasn't been a ridiculous amount of golf this summer but steady. We haven't golfed the same course twice yet and have another round planned for Friday. The more you zoom on this one, the less PG it gets in a tournament that had a little of almost everything ;)

Another course I played for the first time was up north at the cottage. There hasn't been much rain so the long dry spell left this one a little yellow. When you look beyond, you can see the Haliburton highlands up in cottage country. So clean and so green.

Speaking of Cottage

We had decided to pass on getting our cottage for the standard week this year. Too much going on and extra investment in the little ones going off to college seemed to be the wise choice. At the last moment, we scraped together some extra money and bought ourselves a few days of summer paradise. So glad we made it happen as this is one of the highlights of the summer. Unplug, breathe, splash, languish and get some of that downtime away from the city.

You know when you close your eyes and go to your happy place? This is mine. Sitting on the bay, looking south and breathing in the cool lake breeze while the world spins. I have to snap a picture here every time I go as a trophy.

Summer Party!

Very little work in this edition as fitting of a Canadian summer. Our head brewer and all around solid guy held an anniversary party at his place. They had the genius idea not to cook a feast or even have a mess to clean up after a catered party. They simply hired a food truck to park in the driveway and handle all the cooking!

Fo' Cheezy specializes in a wide variety of grilled cheese sandwiches. Sounds pedestrian 'til you see the different flavours, like this jalapeno popper one. Then! It is served in a cone there the superfluous cheese drips down on to a bed of cheezies! Not something I could eat every day but definitely on this day!

Beer?

But of course! Plenty of it actually including a special edition of the IPA funbox from Refined Fool brewing. Not sure what made it special but plenty of styles of IPA in 1 box which is special enough for me.

Work?

I have had a few days off and tried to maintain a relaxed summer pace but there has been plenty of work to do. Luckily, some of our clients are upscale restaurants where it doesn't feel much like work then you get to visit. Plenty of wonderful spots in this small tourist town and these diners are enjoying one of the best.

GARDEN!

I owe you a #hivegarden update but suffice to say, it is full on tomato season. I am not normally a huge fan of tomatoes but am a convert because of how awesome they are fresh from the garden. The first of the Beefsteak tomatoes are ready along with a nice variety of other grape, cherry, roma, heirloom and others. Those and fresh garden jalapenos and cucumbers make the BEST sandwiches. I have waited months for this and now we are swimming in them. Update coming soon.

Until Next Time...

The sun may be slowly going down on summer but I am not nearly done yet. This weekend for example, I have a schedule that looks like golf, birthday party, day of sailboat racing, summer party with another group of friends, another day of racing and then one last studio jam with the guys. Sumer is FAR from over!
Thanks for checking in & sharing summer adventure!
