The Bible has interesting passages that tell about the art of war, but this ancient art in the sacred scriptures has a special characteristic, the consultation with God.
Tsun Tzu, who was an ancient Chinese general, and who wrote profusely with his remarkable knowledge about the art of winning wars and battles, totally discouraged the art of consulting the spirits, or any being that was in the supernatural world. This opposition between Tsu Tzu and the Bible is not a minor thing, and should not be left aside.
The Bible always tells us that when Israel won its battles, it always did so because it was under divine guidance, the prophets always had a prominent role in all battles, because according to the Bible, all victory belongs first of all to God and not to men.
Perhaps Tsun Tzu advised against consulting the forces of the supernatural world because this general was perhaps too rational, and history shows us that human reason is not the only source of answers, consulting spirits or divine beings was common in ancient times.
The Bible tells us, for example, how the prophet Elisha allowed a great victory to the forces of Israel and Judah, by consulting God about an important military campaign that was at stake.
The King of Moab tells us the Bible, was used to paying tribute to the King of Israel, but after the death of Ahab he refused to pay, and Joram the new king of Israel went on a campaign to punish the King of Moab, but he did not do it alone but he looked for allies, the King of Judah and the King of Edom.
During the trip, they had logistical problems, and so faced with this important situation the King of Juda asked: "Is there no prophet of the LORD here, through whom we may inquire of the LORD?" 2 Kings 3:11.
So the King of Judah got an answer: "Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah" 2 Kings 3:11.
And Elisha consulted God and gave them an answer, a stream of water would flood the region, water that would give the animals drink, and also would cause an error in the Moabites that would fall into the hands of the King of Israel. And so it happened. This story shows us that spiritual weapons exist, and those who trust exclusively in human reason like the Moabites, face war in inferior conditions.
