Prosper & Inspire
The Prosper Group is a Steem sub-community that I have decided to create. I feel the Steem ecosystem is the future of social media, but we are still lacking heavily in some areas, especially the sign-up/account creation process.
Why?
One of the goals of TPG is to address this account creation issue. Let's face it, no one wants to wait 2-4 weeks just to create an account. There are other options available to allow you to open an account immediately, but that requires a small payment which most people just don't want to or cant pay. TPG will be investigating alternatives to these 2 methods and will eventually deploy that idea for people to take advantage of.
I'm going to look into developing a small app that could handle something like this. To avoid a flood of users we could have some kind of verification that helps us determine if they will put the account to good use. For example, if someone runs their own blog, they could submit that as a form of verification. If they own a blog they're probably more likely to actually use the Steem account. Of course, we can think of other things besides just blogs or websites as well.
Another issue that is all too common and lacks a solution is getting new people to stick around. After waiting weeks to create an account, when you do finally get to use the platform, it is hard to get recognized and build a following with a new account. There isn't anything that anyone can do about this realistically, but there are some things we can do to help guide the new users in the correct direction. I'm currently writing a detailed guide on how to get started with Steemit and how to attract new followers and this in-depth guide should definitely help some people.
Outside of addressing these two problems, TPG wants to create a small active community where members help each other. We will have a Discord (or Slack) channel for our members. We will also be holding weekly contests with prizes!
That's the main focus for now. Of course we will be doing more than this, but that will be discussed and decided by our members in the near future.
