“No matter how paranoid or conspiracy-minded you are, what the government is actually doing is worse than you imagine.” Those are the words of Former State Dept employee William Blum in his book: Rogue State: A Guide to the World's Only Superpower. This is a scary thought because what we know about government is REALLY bad.
It has been abundantly established that the government and media work together to create narratives, stir outrage, provoke fear and divide people into political groups that are constantly at each others throats. Oh and ratings, lets not for get ratings. Fabricated stories bolster viewership by bringing eyes to a network that would otherwise be distracted with other things. Let's be honest, fake news draws attention and makes advertisers a LOT of money. Hawaii's false alarm is just more of this same kind of thing.
