Have a point to prove?
Why?

Why the need to be right?
What are the intentions?
To serve the other? Or gratify one’s own ego?
Is the motivation a selfless inclination to educate? Or arrogance?

Any of us could openly share, extending invitations to consider different perspectives...
So why the need to prove anything?
Is the "glory" of our own victory so important that it's worth the cost of another's own discovery on their own timeline...?
Have we been that impatient, that we've thought it necessary to push another beyond the boundaries of their right to choose their own views...?

In "trying to prove a point," are we serving as a compassionate guide, teacher, mentor? Or enforcing our beliefs upon others as a dictator would?
Was there really so much value in our rigidity, that we were certain there was none to be found in the flexibility to consider any other point?
Was our win worth their dignity?

Short, simple, yet powerful.
Food for thought.
Still have a point to prove...?
(And for a flip side to all this perspective, check out PART TWO...)
