🚂‘A round-trip ticket to Pyongyang, please’🚂
For one day only, people in South Korea could purchase a round-trip ticket leaving Seoul for Pyongyang and board the “Peace Rail” for a commemorative trip.
The special line was a government effort advocating for unification following the historical meeting between leaders of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (ROK).
The train didn’t actually cross the inter-Korean border or reach the DPRK’s capital city. However, people could travel to as far as the Dorasan Station, 200 kilometers south of Pyongyang.
On Sunday afternoon, passengers boarding the “Peace Rail” reached Dorasan Station and visited the local peace park for a concert celebrating the commemorative trip.
The one-day event also marked the 100th birth anniversary of Pastor Moon Ik-hwan, who pioneered democracy and voiced for the unification movement on the Korean Peninsula.
