Afternoon walk, end of another day

For some reason last week felt really draining, with both of us experiencing anxiousness, sleepless nights, and a strange energy. There were nights I just couldn't nod off, and then there were a couple where I fell asleep quickly but was woken in the wee hours of the morning with an anxious kid standing by my bed. After providing reassurance and getting him back to sleep, I'd then find myself wide awake again.
I'm putting it all down to a combination of starting the week off busy - Monday had school from home starting, a Uni assessment due, and of course work - and a distinct lack of physical activity. We need to get moving more!
This week we've been more conscious of our physical activity levels and have been out for a couple of walks around the neighbourhood, in keeping with the allowed exercise aspect of the #stayathome restrictions. It feels so good to be out stretching our legs.

The streets out and about aren't empty, there's still people working, grocery shopping, visiting the doctor, and so forth. The usual level of traffic isn't there though. We ventured into Big W on the way back from last night's walk and it was fairly empty. They have stickers on the floor at the checkouts and signs up reminding everyone to maintain 1.5 metre social distancing but there were so few people in the store it wasn't a problem. We only stayed long enough for the kid to choose a new Lego kit to build.
We also looked for a new jigsaw puzzle. I placed the very last piece of the Mermaid puzzle last week. It was a fun activity and now we're looking for a new one to do together. The kid has asked if we can try for a 500 piece this time as he found the 1000 piece quite daunting. Unfortunately the shelves where the jigsaw puzzles usually live were empty, so we don't have a new one yet.
Almost there ...
The very last piece!
... and she's finished.
So I feel that's where we're at this week - unwinding from the last few weeks, trying to be more active, becoming comfortable in our new routine, and wondering what's ahead.
Until next time,
@Sammie
