Advertisements are very promotional.
The media only shows us what they wants us to see - every country's most beautiful spots. Luring tourists to come and spend thousands of dollars just for an unforgettable vacation.
That is very true in my country, the Philippines. But, what if I'll show you the real Philippines, would you still consider it as a beautiful country?
Below are some authentic pictures I personally took when we had a church immersion outreach just early this year.
Though this scenery aren't new to me, but still it breaks my heart seeing the reality of a third-world country life.
These houses are only connected by this very thin wooden bridge with hallow bamboos as it's foundations.
Below these wooden bridges are swamps of mud. These houses are mostly made out of "amakan"- a thinly sliced bamboo and woven into pattern to create the walls of these "payag" or small bamboo huts.
This small coastal village is connected by these small wooden bridges only.
Only one person can fit exactly on this wooden bridge. And note on this: you should not be overweight or else... just imagine it!
These are my churchmates, they were my team during this outreach.
Now, I've showed you what is reality beyond the media's presentation and promotion.
But still, I would say my country, the Philippines, is beautiful.
Why?
It is not only for its beautiful spots but for its people. We just simply love to make friends with anybody.
What can you say?
