This is my submssion for @recordpool, Song of the Day.
Sometimes composers can be too smart for their own good. The Haydn Palindrome symphony is full of palindromic references. Just for a reminder, a palindrome is something that reads the same backwards as it does forwards. Clever, but is it musically pleasing?
The menuet from this symphony is the most obvious example of this idea. The clip from below actually audio reverses the music, and you can hear that indeed, the dance is completely palindromic. Cool?
