Now that I have told you why Reddit is such an important website you might be wondering what the purpose of Reddit is. Reddit is simply a news bulletin-style social media website. Each News bulletin is categorized into sub-bulletins called “Sub-Reddits”.

Simply visit any Sub-Reddit related to the topic of your interest and you will find only specific topic-related posts. Just like Facebook Groups; Sub-Reddits are also moderated by Moderators which are all voluntary workers and non-paid employees that keep the Sub-Reddit safe from spam and non-relevant content.

I am a YouTuber and I always posted my YouTube videos to relevant niche subreddits. If I wanted to post a YouTube video link regarding Command And Conquer game I would post it under the r/CommandAndConquer subreddit. Similarly, if I had a general video I would post it on r/videos subreddit which has got almost 35 million subscribers.

Generals Rules To Follow On Reddit

Reddit requires you to post relevant topics posts or links to relevant sub-reddits.
Most Sub-Reddits have this self-promotion post rule of having overall account activity consisting of 90% of non-self-promotion posts and only 10% percent of self-promotion posts. This rule is very important to understand as if not properly followed your account can be shadowbanned or even a specific Sub-Reddit might ban you too.
NSFW content cannot be posted in non-NSFW Sub-Reddits.
Each Sub-Reddit has a different set of rules and they can be found on the pinned rules post on their Hot section.
Most Sub-Reddits Will Not Accept Medium Stories Links As Posts
One of the biggest issues I faced when I was posting my Medium Stories link for the first time on different Sub-Reddits is that many post submissions gave me a strange error saying “Link Looks Strange”.

Re Emphasizing Reddit Rule Of Self Promotion

I have said it previously in this article and am emphasizing again that you need to have 1:9 of posts promoting your posts or link submissions on Reddit if you want to keep your Reddit account safe from being shadowbanned or even Sub-Reddit banned.

You should have 90 percent of your posts as non-promotional posts and only 10 percent of your submissions posts as promotional posts.
