2018 is almost over and it is time to reflect and plan for all that 2019 has in store. Hence this post (plus a little @partiko challenge).
Firstly, what brought me to STEEM?
I was mining a little crypto earlier this year and STEEM was mentioned in the chatroom on Minergate (possibly by @donald.porter but I can't remember). I was looking for more ways to earn some crypto, so looked into it. Mainly I was curious to see if anyone would be interested in what I had to say. I had never blogged before and had little idea what to write about, but got in and had a go anyway.
Came for the money.
Yup, that's me. But I soon realized that I needed to be interesting, and network. I wasn't the most creative person and felt boring, but pushed on and tried lots of different things. The best thing that happened was finding #teamaustralia as well as the awesome @mariannewest and the #freewrite community. I may not have as much to do with these communities anymore, but they were instrumental in helping me find my feet here.
Why have I stayed?
Hope. More than anything I can see the possibility of improving my future and providing a better life for my family. So yes I'm still here for the money, sort of.
There is also a bit of a pioneer spirit at the moment. This feels like the real growth is only just getting going. The bear market has led to a tighter community as those most committed are pulling together. It feels like a community at the start of a new paradigm and that is exciting to feel a part of.
What is ahead for me in 2019
More engagement, more involvement, more networking and trying to help STEEM grow. More dApps and more opportunity for many more people to improve their lives.
