[SPOILER ALERT! Watch out for spoilers from the episode]
Agents of SHIELD... a space based besties adventure! Well, that's what this episode was. And while I was keen on seeing the mystery of Not-Coulson further unraveled, I have to say the episode was great. And they finally got around to putting Fitz in a monkey suit! Ha!!!
Anyways, the episode takes off exactly where the last one let off, with Daisy, Jemma, Piper and Davies arriving at planet Neo Aster on the Zephyr. Not surprisingly, the team is in an uproar. Jemma had blatantly disobeyed the chain of command and sent them on what was basically a suicide mission. They didn't even know if they could jump back! It's a huge credit to Daisy's and Jemma's friendship that Daisy doesn't go ballistic and restrain her on the spot. And also a huge credit to Piper and Davies' loyalties that they listen to Daisy at all. Still, Daisy makes the call that they turn around and jump back to earth at once. The search isn't over, they will return, but refreshed and restocked. However, that is not to be. Just as they reach that decision, the customs officer of the planet, hilariously obnoxious like our own bureaucratic officers, docks with the Zephry and demands they be boarded for a customary search.
At the same time, Fitz and Enoch arrive at planet Kitson where they are immediately ripped off and robbed of everything, leaving them with no means to head back to Neo Astar. Fitz and Enoch, it seems, have been placed on an intergalactic bounty for some reason. However, they are left with a gaming chip and one option: try to win back some fortune at the terribly notorious Kitson casinos. With no other option, they head there at once.
Meanwhile, back on the Zephyr, the customs check is interrupted when Jemma asks the officer if he has seen Fitz and an unknown man steps out of the shadows to attack them, apparently hunting Fitz also... because, he says, Leonardo Fitz was dead already and the Fitz running around was breaking the rules of the Universe. They manage to take him down and get a few details from Mr. Customs, learning that Fitz' ship had indeed been there, but headed away for Kitson. This, of course, settled all aguement between the SHIELD agents. But then they find his ship and find the robbers instead, who inform the pissed agents of their quarry's location. Davies and Piper head back to the Zephyr and their hunter prisoner while Jemma and Daisy head to the Casino. But not before, with the exception of Piper, having some sweet-looking Kitsonian candy.
And here the hilarity really begins. Down in the casinos, Enoch, using his highly mathematical brain and apparently having fun with his new BFF, wins them a fortune at poker, but loses it all when one of the players makes what would have been an obvious bluff to a an emotional being. Left with nothing, they have to play another game, one with higher stakes but based on mathematics only. If they lose, Fitz could either be speared through by an arrow immediately or be sold into a life of slavery. Much fun. However, Enoch gives him answers by making a whistle only humans can hear, keeping him safe and ensuring their win.
When Daisy and Simmons arrive, they are high as ****. The candy, it seems, might've been harmless to others, but was a highly psychedelic drug to terrans. They manage to make it to the bar, but then totally forget what the mission is, declaring a girls night out instead and reliving their feelings in hilarious ways over drinks. While, this was very funny, it was also very depressing--they were all in the same casino, so close! When Jemma commennts how the universe is always against her and Fitz, we can't help but agree. Meanwhile, with Davies also high in the Zephyr, the hunter escapes, but not before accessing the ship's systems to communicate with his people, resulting in Enoch being remotely deactivated. The resulting excruciatingly-high human-ears-only whistle alerts the still-high Daisy and Jemma and remind them of the mission, but then more hunters have arrived and they have to fight them off.
In the inner casino, Fitz is detained as his scheme with Enoch is realised. He reboots the chromicon who, apparently, has been decommisioned by his people and manages to escape just as Jemma splits off from Daisy towards the same room. In one elating moment, they meet at the door, but then the first hunter appears, grabs Fitz and vanishes before her very eyes.
