It's been a hot topic lately on Hive...
The rewards pool!
And it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, or even what's holding Hive back from mass adoption.
I'm going to play the middle here and try to explain my opinions on the good and the bad. Now that being said, I'm coming at it from an entrepreneur and every day user of the blockchain...I won't even begin to try to explain the technical side of it all, and whether or not it's got a viable future...I'm just talking like a 'normie'!
The Blessing
Being paid for being active on not only a social media platform, but the ability to 'get paid' for doing what you love...Is VERY enticing!
Here's the thing about the standard 'go get YouTube money' speech that you here around content creation...Getting 10k subscribers or whatever the minimum is there days is tough.
You are told that you need X amount before you are even considered to be able to take part in their revenue sharing model...And then it's no guarantee that'll stick or if you get banned from the platform.
Hive provides SUCH a more enticing model to me.
With upvotes, with tipping, with the communities...You can plug right in here and even if you get a dollar in upvotes, you are WAY ahead of the game.
And the more you are supported, the better your content will get.
You will gain the confidence to step out of your comfort zone daily, and become a better content creator.
This is VERY rare on traditional social media because...Well, 10k subscribers isn't something that just 'happens'.
It's very powerful and in my opinion one of the greatest assets Hive provides new and experienced creators...The ability to 'plug' right in and get rewarded immediately.
The Curse
The blockchain's brand since day one has been (for better or worse)...
Come and get rewarded!
Here's the double edged sword when it comes to this...
You might get a few pennies in Hive rewards to start...And that may continue for a long time.
You see the trending topics and the circle of friends that upvote each other and you get frustrated. You put your heart and soul into your content and end up getting...35 cents!
This can be quite discouraging if your mindset is...'I came to get rewarded'!
The Opportunity
I decided very early in my Hive journey that...
My mentality is long term and has to be in accumulation mode. Meaning, I didn't care how much Hive was trading for, I was happy when it was lower so I could buy more. And I would 'take profits' or start looking at 'living' off my efforts after 5 years...I'm around year number 3 so still got a ways to go :) Long term!!
NEVER expect upvotes! If you get them, it's awesome...But you aren't guaranteed a thing here. Instead what I thought would be a good game plan is...Stack as much as I could, because that seems to appeal to more people...The more they see you stacking, the more attention you seem to generate.
Get better! A little bit of self reflection...When you first get started on Hive and you don't have a big background as a content creator...Your content is gonna suck! I know mine has been awful at times, but the longer you are here, the more community supports you, you WILL get better. Get pushing forward, trying to improve your craft and you WILL attract the right people on the blockchain!
But the big one....Build community! This is why in @clicktrackprofit our tribe is focusing on building up as many members as we can to 'Dolphin' status. The more our community grows, the more we support each other and don't need to rely on others on Hive.
Remember....
Even if you get 10 cents in upvotes, that's a billion times more than you would get on Facebook or YouTube...So to me, that is OPPORTUNITY!
Have the mentality that you are building here, on a platform that won't 'ban you' and are here at the beginning of something very special.
Plug into the amazing communities and tribes on Hive (if you need a home, we'd love to have you AND support you on CTP)!
And always be grateful for any support you do get! This is what makes Hive so amazing...
Potentially, the greatest opportunity for content creators in history!
We're big on community!
And we'd love to have you join the CTP Swarm!
