Every few months, someone brings up Rich Dad Poor Dad (book). They quote it like gospel: "Don’t work for money, make money work for you."
Sure. Fair point. But here’s a thought I find more useful lately: Money isn’t the goal. But neither is work.
There’s a false choice in the air: Either you chase wealth. Or you chase fulfillment. But what if you don’t fully believe in either path?
I invest. I save. I work. Not because I want to "retire early". But because I want space to think, to change direction, to say "no" without panic. To do what I like without guilt.
That’s what interest, staking yield, and work give me: Not luxury, but margin!
The book preaches ownership. Assets. Cash flow. It wants you to escape the rat race and build systems. But I don’t actually believe the goal is freedom from work, I believe in freedom within work, and sometimes from it.
Furthermore not everything has to scale. Some things just need to sustain. Because before your money and your work there is your life!
Money isn’t the endgame. But it enables better moves. Work isn’t sacred. But it has meaning until it doesn’t.
Maybe yield (in your money, in your work, in your life) isn’t thrilling. But you can make it consistent. And consistency compounds.
I don’t want to win the main game. I just want to stop playing games I don’t believe in and focus on what is most life rewarding. And that takes capital, emotional, intellectual, and yes, financial.
And what about you? Are you chasing freedom from something? Do you see your savings as a path to comfort, control, or simply more time?
