Para dar vida a este pequeño apunte musical hemos escogido una pieza de Albert William Ketèlbey, compositor, director y pianista británico de la primera mitad del siglo XX. A lo largo de su carrera, escribió música para el entretenimiento del público popular, fue muy conocido en su tiempo por sus composiciones evocativas.
“En un mercado persa” es una deliciosa obra compuesta en 1920 por Ketèlbey. Esta pieza es relativamente corta, unos siete minutos, evoca el ambiente de un mercado oriental, narra una historia a través de la música que incluye la llegada de camelleros, el canto de los mendigos, llegada de una princesa, malabaristas, encantadores de serpientes y el paso solemne de un califa. La obra representa diferentes momentos del mercado, desde el amanecer hasta el crepúsculo.

To bring this short musical note to life, we have chosen a piece by Albert William Ketèlbey, a British composer, conductor, and pianist from the first half of the 20th century. Throughout his career, he wrote music for the entertainment of popular audiences and was well known in his time for his evocative compositions.
"In a Persian Market" is a delightful piece composed in 1920 by Ketèlbey. This relatively short piece, about seven minutes, evokes the atmosphere of an Eastern market, telling a story through music that includes the arrival of camel drivers, the singing of beggars, the arrival of a princess, jugglers, snake charmers, and the solemn passing of a caliph. The piece represents different moments of the market, from dawn to dusk.
