5 Things That Changed My Mind On RISING STAR!
#5 On The List Is The Biggest Reason!
I was not impressed during my initial look at Rising Star on Hive. My first play to earn experience was with the idle games such as Alien Worlds and Koloboks on WAX. After playing these games for two months I became bored and moved on to other games I discovered such as God's Unchained and Splinterlands. At that point I had mostly sworn off idle games, even if they were play to earn, simply because I don't enjoy them.
Coming with this perspective and looking at Rising Star while live streaming, I gave it a hard pass after a few minutes. Judging the book by it's cover, I thought this was simply Alien Worlds for the Hive blockchain.
With some harsh comments for Rising Star, I thought I would never take a second look. My community however kept bugging me to give it another try.
Two weeks went by with these types of comments in my discord and on my Youtube videos. Finally I gave in and played Rising Star for two weeks. My thoughts haven't changed much about the gameplay but again keep in mind that I am "just not that into" idle games. However there were 5 things that made me intrigued by this NFT gaming project.
1. Krills Can Play this Game and Start for Free.
Anyone with a Hive Keychain can start playing this game for free using "The Busker" starter NFT. This allows you to play missions and earn starbits. The earning will be slow at first but it is possible to progress with enough time. The Krill Community has also mentioned to me that even starting with $10 makes your progress much quicker.
2. It's Another Game on Hive.
The more games that come to Hive the better. More people on Hive means more introduced to Splinterlands, Hive blogging, etc. All of the assets we currently own will have a better chance to increase.
3. Has a Strong Community.
Community is one of my five pillars for investing in NFT games. A game that has incredible gameplay but no community around it, is still a pointless game. Rising Star seems to already have a strong community. The Discord is active and continually growing. They also feature a lot of streamers which help people connect and relate to the game even more.
4. Has More In-Depth Idle Gameplay than some Other NFT Games.
While I'm not the biggest fan on idle games, I must admit at least there is more to do than when I was playing Alien Worlds and Koloboks last year. Between the different NFTs of Instruments, People, Boosters, etc. there are multiple strategies to implement. Having multiple factors such as fans, ego, energy and skill to balance also gives players more to consider.
The grind to level 10 was very boring but after that it has felt more rewarding now that I can do higher level missions and buy NFT fans or energy boosts.
5. It Supports Indie Artists.
More so than the gameplay itself, the support for musicians is the gem of this project. As musicians upload their music, they can mint it as an NFT for 120K Starbits, sell it, and also have it play on the Rising Star radio station that plays in the background of the game. This will give indie artists exposure that they most likely will never find on Spotify, Apple Music, or Youtube.
If Rising Star can figure out ways to feature artists more by creating live concerts, selling VIP passes, creating premium radio and more, this project can create something unique for the NFT gaming space.
I don't believe that idle games have much longevity in this NFT gaming space. Once more games are created that have more active and engaging gameplay, as well as a sustainable economy, I believe most idle games will die out. However with Rising Star, I believe if they move forward focusing more on rewarding artists and engaging players with their music, they will continue to blow up as a project.
