It's exactly a week until I run my first half marathon and I'm not totally sure I feel ready. Today I did my longest run in a while, but it wasn't too bad. I was much quicker than my app thought I should be, but it was a comfortable pace. I may aim to go slightly slower for a race to ensure I last the distance. The bottom right part of my route is part of the race course, but then I took a speculative detour through the woods in hope that it would get me back home. It did. I love exploring the countryside around here. It's mostly man made, but still beautiful. Sorry, but I don't generally stop to take photos.

It's interesting that my best distances are on the later stages of the run.
I get some comments on my running posts with people worrying about my health. This is really nothing spectacular. I'm just an older guy trying to stay fit. Others run far quicker and if anything I think it's doing me good. I got out before it warms up today as I don't want it too hot. Current forecast for race day is slightly cooler, which suits me.
Here I am post-run about to have breakfast. A little sweaty, but otherwise fine. I'm finding my body recovers quicker from a long run these days.
I've been a lot more active since I changed jobs a year ago. That's partly because I don't drive to work, so I walk a lot more, and the work site is much bigger too. I've had more time for exercise and have been doing at least three sessions a week. This is what Google Fit shows for a year ago.
Quite a difference this year and you will see my weight is down. I checked this morning and I lost a bit more. That's less to carry around when running, but I should have more muscle mass too.
The colours are for walking, running, cycling and other exercise (e.g. circuits), in that order.
I'm pretty confident of finishing the race and I don't care too much about the time. I do think I need new running shoes. It's a bit late in the day, but I may buy some this week anyway. I'll give them a good try before the race to ensure they are okay. My current ones were not absorbing too much and I could feel it at the end of my run.
