Following my wounding in Koh Lanta and 3 weeks off running, I used this week to start building things back up again - 2 runs so far this week, with another tomorrow.
I'm actually quite pleased with how things went - 23 mins for a 5K on Thursday, and that was fairly easy.
Turns out I haven't lost that much form after all. And my wound's scabbed and isn't bleeding at last - although it's taken it a fortnight to get there!
Weekly running summary:
- Total kilometers this week: 9
- No. of runs: 2
Wednesday's Run - 4K local easy
First run back in - nice and easy. Nothing exciting, just nice to be back!
Friday's Run: 5K local faster
Started off slow, and was surprised to get my third best local loop time, I wasn't even really trying TBH, holding back quite a lot.
Maybe it's because my legs have had a proper, I mean a really proper rest, and all the little micro muscle tears have healed up and now I'm stronger?
See, I'm still an optimist!
Next week's running plans
Assuming i don't leg it back to Koh Lanta to avoid the winter, I'm going to get back to my usual 3-4 runs -
- Sunday - 6K early easy.... building back into the long runs.
- Intervals on Tuesday
- 5K fast on Thursday (instead of the Park Run yet, my form won't be up to standard)
- Sunday - probably up to 8K long run.
Running... It's a great way to beat the cold and the dark!
