After Kyrkesund (ref my previous post), the next settlement is Mollösund (sea map, Swedish Wikipedia). Mollösund is both the name of the sound and the name of the village to the starboard - which is on the bigger island Orust, it has a bridge connection to the mainland. To the port is the island Mollö, it can only be reached by boat. Mollösund has a guest harbour, it has diesel and petrol, shops, a church and an old windmill. It's an idyllic place. Mollö is idyllic too, but a bit private, no guest places.
I hope I'm not boring you to death with the "E6" photo session. This time I'm doing a bit of a twist, starting the post with some old photos I found, from the morning at the very last day in the year 2014. We did eventually sleep over at Mollö, at a quay that looked like a public quay but was marked with "private".
This photo is from Mollö, towards the village. No snow even if it's winter, but there is some fog in the air.
Here is our boat. There is a thin layer of fresh ice crystals on the wooden quay.
This monument is found above the village. In earlier days, the men were typically out on the sea fishing most of the time. Mishaps happened frequently, the sea is treacherous, there are lots of rocks and reefs in the area, quite heavy waves outside the islands ... so there would typically be ladies keeping an eager watch, and there were always a big relief and much happyness when the fisherman boats would be seen returning to the village.
