Hello my dear friends. I haven't posted in several months, but it's not because of illness because thank God I feel great now. I didn't want to pass up this opportunity to participate in the new thread of the silversmith community @silverbloggers with the chronicles and the topic: What is the small, simple joy that brightens your day and why does it bring you happiness?
I've always told you that I'm very family-oriented; it's something my mother taught me, and I thoroughly enjoy it. Seeing my entire family sitting next to me at the table, having a pleasant conversation together, or watching my grandchildren play is something that fills my heart with joy. I want to tell you that for the past three months, my two grandchildren have been living with me in my house. They were born in Colombia due to the migration that my country experienced due to political and economic problems (the situation hasn't improved yet, but many have already returned home).
A train passes right in front of my apartment, and every day my youngest grandson sits on the balcony and shouts, "The train, the train!" I told his mom we should take a ride there and back, only for her two boys to get on the train. You can't imagine the joy on their faces. They were looking at the apartment from the train, and the whole ride, I felt happy watching them fulfill that wish of being near the train.
Last Monday, July 7th, was my birthday. Just turning a year brings me so much happiness. It's a day when displays of affection from family, friends, and acquaintances pour in via phone calls and social media from early in the morning. The congratulations pour in from morning until dusk.
Of course, being with my 5 grandchildren, together, filled my already special day with even more joy, it made it super special.
My youngest granddaughter, Ashley, decided to give me a special gift: a letter, in her own handwriting. Far from being something insignificant, it filled me with emotion, as she took the time to paint a rose for me and tell me I'm as beautiful as that flower. My grandsons, Nathanael and Abraham, also did the same; they wrote whatever came from their hearts at that moment. Moments of happiness were spent reading their beautiful letters, simple and plain gifts, yet filled with so much love.
My daughters made me lunch that day, my birthday. Later that afternoon, I received a cake that my son paid for as a gift, and he knows how much I love cake. He was the only one who wasn't there, but I felt his heart very close to mine. We'll see each other soon, God willing.
As you can see, I live from happiness to happiness, and I thank God for that. Children are always the joy of a home, and having my five grandchildren is the greatest joy I can ever feel. Hearing them say "Grandma" in those tiny voices sounds heavenly to my ears and fills my heart with joy.
So these are a few of my small, simple joys that brighten every day of my life. I feel very fortunate that God chose me to be a mother of three and a grandmother of five. I feel like life has been worth living.
