How are we going to react when we are rejected, expelled and stoned? We are going to follow the example of our Master, Jesus Christ, the Lamb who "did not open his mouth". His way of acting tells us that we should not make fire come down from heaven on those who insult us. "Pray for those who revile you and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44). "They curse us, and we bless; we suffer persecution, and we endure it "(1 Corinthians 4:12).

I do not like those arrogant and presumptuous prophets who retaliate, threaten or curse. In the Old Testament, Shimei stood on a hill and began to throw stones at David, when the king was leaving Jerusalem, fleeing his rebellious son, Absalom. The captain of David's army said: "Why does this dead dog curse my lord the king? I beg you to let me pass, and I will take your head off. "But David replied:" Leave him let him curse ... perhaps Jehovah will look on my affliction, and Jehovah will give me good for his curses today "(2 Samuel 16: 9-12).
The Bible says that when Moses climbed the mountain and isolated himself with God, his face shone. Although others saw it, Moses did not know it. At one point he put a veil over his face, but he had not realized the reflection of God's holiness on him. And how
Stephen, Moses did not boast of being touched by God. They were men who did not give themselves airs, presuming of prophets; They did not threaten. They did not talk about having a "new" revelation
or "special". They did not make a display of false piety. Humility is the hallmark of the soul that depends totally on Christ. Such a person has no spiritual pride, no trace
some of exclusivity.
It is that by giving ourselves completely to Christ we have to pay a price, but we will also receive a reward: It is simply the blessing of having Christ on our side.
There are many other rewards as well (see Matthew 19:29), but I mention this because it is all we really need.
When Paul was captured in Jerusalem, the entire religious system wanted to destroy it. They accused him of polluting the holy place and preaching false doctrines. His life was in danger; even the soldiers feared they would tear him to pieces. Then they took Paul by force and locked him in a castle. The next night, the Lord spoke to him. Let's see what kind of message he gave him: "Cheer up! Still more difficulties await you! "
The cost of following Christ was obvious in the lives of those men of God; and if we want to be like our Master, then we must also accept that cost. Supporting it becomes a joy, since Christ promises to be with us in every situation. And we can face anything or anyone when we know that the Lord is with us. So, calculate the cost and keep in mind that your reward, in all things, is the powerful presence of Jesus Christ.
