In February I achieved my goal of averaging 500 words per day! I finished the month with 14,148 words. This did little to claw back the 5,228 deficit from January, but it moved in the correct direction. There were ten days in the month where I did not write which gives me a daily average of 786 words on days I did write. The words which got me over the target were written about 23:30h on Tuesday evening. I do love a deadline!
Among work written and posted on Hive were:
a pair of linked posts about Type 2 Diabetes, the second of which was my first post in the Med-Hive community. i'd like to thank @marilour for a warm and encouraging welcome, and I look forward to digging about in some of the articles from the community;
I also joined the DIYHub community with the intention of chronicling the build of my garden office/library with a monthly post. Again I'd like to thank the community for a warm welcome;
The third community I joined was Ecency Support. I use Ecency to access Hive on my phone and tablet and wanted to show some support for this brand new community. I loved the competition prompt about 'My Favourite Food' and found myself waxing lyrical about Eggs Benedict. If you use Ecency, or not, this is a great place to connect with other HIVE folks, and find out about Ecency;
There were two posts to Sports Talk Social outlining sackings of football club managers in England's Premier League, and these were added to the curated list of such I am doing for the season;
Beyond that there were two brand new stories written for prompts, A Change of Direction for The Ink Well, and the An Alternative View for Scholar & Scribe, a post with a snap of some planets in Photography Lovers, and one mentioning the @hivebookclub & @dreemport collaboration. With travel and other things this month I did less daily @dreemport curation than I intended, but hopefully this month will be better.
And that's my aim for this month, better. I hope to have fewer non writing days, and to claw back a little more of January's deficit, which stands at 5,080 words. Averaging 664 words per day would do it, but so long as it comes down I'll be happy.
As to what I intend writing, well, with my schedule at the moment I'm struggling to focus on the novel and certainly that is unlikely to change this week and next week. Instead, I have some aims for new writing which will be a mix of articles and short stories for publication here on Hive. There are certainly plenty prompts and competitions for the fiction side, for creative non-fiction as well.
Round up 4 will reveal how I managed to do.

Some will know The Proclaimers song I’m Gonna Be (500 miles). Well, it’s still the theme for this writing year: ‘and I will write 500 words, and I will write 500 more’.
