I am not sure if any of you are aware, but schooling in South Africa has become more of a nightmare than a dream.
Basically, the EFF (People who want to be revolutionary, but don't know the purpose of one, or how to properly do it) are fighting various schooling institutes and Universities, who are as stubborn at changing their fees as they are at how they teach..
Here's a short backstory. Roughly 30 years ago South Africa had what we called apartheid, a stupid, racist, and cruel system that separated black, white and colored people. The ruling party punished those who were seen together and didn't have the same skin colour. The worst was not the separation, but the fact that certain races were given privileges while others were forced to live in a much poorer state. Apartheid was abolished, but the feelings of that time have never left.
Onto the current debacle. During Apartheid,learning the Afrikaans language was mandatory and the school systems only had resources for that language, thereby halting the learning progress for students with Zulu or Xhosa backgrounds. Now, it isn't forced, but a lot of teachers still only teach in Afrikaans which made a lot of students resentful for having to learn a new language to understand the teachers. But instead of addressing this properly, humanely, and with a focus of "Advancing towards the future" the EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters, lead by our own Noddy-Badge-Worthy participant, Julius Malema) and EFFSC (EFF Student Council) have decided to stop people from learning, beat up white students, and remove Afrikaans ( A whole language) from schools all together.
The Universities involed are't doing much better, for they are not only refusing to negotiate with the EFF on this matter, but continue to raises the already ridiculous costs for studying.
All in all, I cant wait to travel the world for a few years just to get out of this mes of a country.I love it, and hate it.
