They've walked for almost five hours, before resting at a nearby stop. As they were approaching the portal, Eutopia noticed the callous silence from McKayla. Being fascinated at the scenary she saw, she asked her what it was. She instantly ignored her question, while glancing at Jonathan. Just as they were about to enter the portal, McKayla tapped her finger against the edge of his shoulder. The others did not notice her tension, so they instantly went inside. As the portal was about to close, they saw distant eagles whistling. They knew that they would need to enter before they get any closer. The edge of the portal hole was igniting against Jonathan's jacket.
McKayla (sternly): who was Pnaiski?!!
Jonathan (mutter): come on, we need to get going!! If we want to enter the chamber before nightfall comes........here anyways.
McKayla (gritted): I saw everything in that scrying pool, Jonathan! I even know she's behind it!
Leaving him agitated and speechless, he saw a figure floating in the far distance. It vanished the moment he caught its gaze. He knew it was the hybrid, the one he had ended up upsetting in Audrey's pocket dimension. His flustering was instantly distracted from Eutopia's call from inside the portal. As he entered, he noticed the creature reappearing once again. The chamber was as secluded and frost as they had remembered, with the ruined remnants from buildings of centuries ago. There were one carcasses that they instantly recognized. It was someone from their own realm chamber, even with the appearance on. Their body was completely mutilated, with their flesh rotting.
The head of the person was still in contact. Marius knew it was one of their citizens. As they were standing around the carcasses, Eutopia and Lolite began sobbing. They felt the intense sense of tragedy, knowing that the person was innocent. As they comforted them, they heard a rather eerie whistling in the distance. Eutopia knew that it was broad daylight in this chamber dimension, yet the sound was that of a moonracker. The clairvoyant instantly sensed something in a near distance watching them, despite knowing they were secluded. The sense of being gazed made him more paranoid.
Marius (quietly): if this hybrid is as sinister as McKayla is saying, we've no way of defeating it just on our own.
Lolite (sternly): I've thought of that before. We need more allies from our residence.
Eutopia (frown): but isn't that like anything from before? We don't even have that much time to explain it to them. They won't understand it!! I mean, Mazoon never mentioned how long we're timed.
Marius (perturbed): that's something I've thought of!! The reality from these pictures - they could be something of the next minute or another year. Who knows!
Jonathan (frown): well, we're not just going to stand here waiting for our fate.
McKayla (angrily): it's strange hearing from you. Since you're hiding something from us!
Samuel: hey, come on you guys!! If we don't get going, then we'll never get there. Would we?
The portal was concealed next to the tree Audrey mentioned. However, the tree wasps nest was eliminated. As they were entering the portal, the sound of a wings flapping could be heard from behind them. As Naia was turning around to inspect, the side of his jacket was ignited with the flames. Once they entered the chamber, they knew they were unable to survive in the heat. The realm was silent, but a type that made them feel rather vigilant. Even the clairaudience could not hear any sound from anywhere. There were no wind, nor branches falling down from the trees. The leaves softly rustled, as they walked aggressively amongst them. The map that she had given to McKayla was still in her palms.
Before they could realize what was in front of them, Naia accidentally slipped with some pebbles. Half his body was now dandling from the edge of a cliff, with two of his hands grasping firmly onto the edge of a boulder. There was a creature beneath them, one can only ever describe it with grotesque. The stench that came from it made it unbearable for Eutopia. They could see the liquid that was coming out from beneath it, as it stretched out its tentacles. Naia was just 10 meters from where it could reach him. As they pulled him up, they heard a ferocious screech from the thing.
Eutopia (fluster): oh my gosh, are you alright?!!
Naia (mutter): just enough to not get grabbed by that thing!! Oh great, now we have a bridge. Guess I'm going first!
Marius (meticulously): hold on! I just need to check out the clearance first..........if we fall onto that thing.............
Lolite: we won't, trust me!
The bridge was made from slats no thicker than 5 inches. It was suspended with hawser that could snap at any minute. As he looked closer at it, he could see that some of the slats were missing in the distance. It was unusually long to reach the other side. With such an unstable thing as its only facility. The valley was mainly overtaken by the creature, with the screeching now a lot quieter. A he placed one of his foot onto the first slat, the entire bridge began wobbling incessantly. Eutopia's gasp made it the most uneasy. He knew they had to cross it, with one person at a time. McKayla insisted on being the last one. Naia noticed the corpses from below the valley, some of which were rotting.
Once they got onto the other side, Samuel threw a few pebbles down to hit the creature. It snarled viciously at them, while attempting to reach out with three of the tentacles. It was way too high for it to reach. The clairvoyance saw the liquid drops that spreaded across the valley. It came from the creature. They knew that it could find a way of reaching to the same level of surface as them. Just by looking at the endoskeleton body, Eutopia became nauseous.
Jonathan (frown): it's one of those things. I can't remember the name. I know why there's no one around in this chamber now! And it has nothing to do with them...........
Marius: oh well........we're here now. Isn't that all it matters. Let's keep going, the pool should not be that further from here!
Naia: he's right, come on!!!
Eutopia (whisper): honestly though, do you think the residents in this chamber were consumed by it?
Lolite (frown): I think there's a chance it's related. But the reapers........yeah, I think they are the main cause of this emptiness!
McKayla: we still have no proof.........if this place is even right. I always knew that bitch was a liar!
Lolite (mutter): you're not wrong there. If this isn't the right place, we should go back....no legend of that.
As they reached the lake, they saw three figures with cloaks covering their face. As they got closer, they knew it was masks. One of them raised a pole made out of wood out. The atmosphere smelt of burnt flesh, as they realized that McKayla was shrinking. Marius instantly knew that someone has been decoding her again. He grapped her into his palm, while he felt the piece of flesh shrinking to near invisible size. The reapers approached them, all of which had an axe in their hands. Just as Eutopia was about to let out a sigh of release, Marius felt his palm being pushed open. McKayla had returned to her original form. In her hands, was the keyboard that they were hoping they could find.
When the reapers were resized, they entered the lake. Naia knew that he would drown from the water, given that he was only 4 foot 6. They felt the excruciating burnt marks slowly washing off. The ink was in the water, with the swelling that slowly disappeared. There was a fog that appeared right after they got out of the water. With their clothes completely saturated from the liquid, they could smell the obnoxious stench. The fog was taking up the clearance of their vision. They knew they had to leave the chamber before the night hurrican approaches.
Eutopia (perturbed): I don't want to go near that thing now.......we can barely see!!
Jonathan (gritted): we have to go now!! No one can stay here for the night!
Eutopia (belligerently): if we call by missing one of the slats, that person would be fatal!!!
Marius (sigh): gotta agree with the dude on this one. If we don't go back now, God knows what might happen tonight.........
Eutopia (sulkily): can't you use your vision this time?!! I'm making a point, it would most likely be your sister. Given how poor her sight is during nightfall!!
McKayla (sedated): hey, whatever you guys make up........I'm fine with it!
Lolite: I agree with her, she would be fine. If I didn't know any better, I would say you're afraid of that thing. Eutopia?
Eutopia (bitterly): whatever then!
The torch could barely illuminate the darkness, as they were unable to watch their footsteps. Naia could hear an eerie clicking sound from behind them, but decided it would be best not to mention it to them until they reach the other side. Standing at 4 foot 6, he could feel his face clashing against someone's shoulder as they abruptly stopped. He could hear the blaring of the creature, while the heavy breathe of Eutopia's panic concealed it a bit from him. Marius was the first one that went on the slat, followed by a the females. The torch could make glimpse of them. The four of them were in the middle of the bridge, with some slats that were rattling loudly.
The rustling leaves in the distance made it impossible for Naia to hear the snores of the creature. Not knowing whether it would be alive or dead, meant they were in peril. As th males' torches went out, they could hear a shriek from Eutopia, a groan from Marius and a squeal from McKayla. Just as the torches went back on, they saw a tentacle that wrapped itself around McKayla's torso. Lolite was standing on the slats with no arms for support, as she and the other two were pulling her back onto the bridge.
Samuel (panic): MCKAYLA!!
Jonathan (mutter): I can make this thing stop, but only to make sure that the bridge doesn't fall at the same time!!
Eutopia (frown): HOLD ON!! Guys, we need some help here?!
The earthquake had caused the creature's ferocious snarling to stop, while it turned to look at the telekinetist. Carefully, he was able to gather two boulders from nearby the valley. Using his deep-rooted telekinetism, he manipulated the objects into a higher position. They could see the two boulders hovering above them. Eutopia gesticulated that it would fall on them, alongside breaking the bridge. It managed to drift slightly away from them, as it dropped onto the creature. Making the most tumultuous screeching sound Naia's heard in his lifespan as a clairaudience. He made sure it did not wreck his sensitive eardrums, while the others also grimaced at the sound.
Marius (sternly): it's dead!
McKayla (sigh): gosh, thought I would lose my other half just then!! Thanks to you guys, and him...........
Lolite: always there for each you, especially for my closest!
Naia (frown): well come on, we gotta get going!
There were liquid that resembled blood that was splatted over the sides of the cliff walls, as well as the bridge. Naia shined his torch against the creature. That was when he suddenly realized the size of it, which was previously thought to be smaller. Despite the tenacles and head, the body resembled that of a slug or a endoskeleton typed creature. The unbearable stench caused them to vomit a bit. Just as McKayla was getting off the bridge, a tentacle came from beneath the bridge. It wrapped itself around her body tightly, as she winced from the lack of air. She could feel the suckers compressing against her torso, like wet tomatoes.
Her cries of help her muffled by the tentacle. Naia was at the very back of the group, and instantly noticed her soft moan. Before he could prevent her, he was taken within another tentacle. Both people were now grappling for support, while the others were unable to hear them. Naia watched as the silhouette of his peers slowly faded into the night. He sighed, as he turned his head towards the starring night. Wondering if any of the stars would bring him the slightest chance of luck. His grandmother always told him that the stars were the hands of God. McKayla looked at him with resentment in her eyes. They both knew their fate was preceding.
