How can we know whether objectivity in fact deters subjectivity as science has always assumed?
Consider the following experiment. A group of researchers independently conduct separate experiments. Each researcher maintains some preconception as to what the results of his or her experiment will be. In conducting their experiments, some researchers are more objective than others. At the conclusion of all the experiments, we compare each researcher’s preconception with the experiment’s results. What would be the implication if there were a greater correlation between the preconception and results among those researchers who were more objective than those researchers who were less objective?
