In this post I list a few points that I am personally striving towards to become a better me and which will be something I have to work on myself for the next years or even the rest of my life. There is no single solution to anything as the universe is way to complex for that. I will address you, the reader, directly in this article. However, whenever I say you should or you shouldn't I don't mean that literally. You are free to do whatever you like and it is rather myself who needs to go deeper in this or that regard.
Love
To me this is the most important one that enables everything else. Love is the foundation of the universe and by allowing to flow in it and opening our hearts to others we can move mountains. You might think that you are a generally good person and pretty nice to others. However, we all can switch into disrespect, arrogance, jealousy, ignorance and hatred in the blink of an eye. You just need to meet the wrong person and all of a sudden you are flooded with negative emotions. This will influence not just your relationship to that person but to yourself as well since it is YOU who is feeling bad.
The answer to this couldn't be simpler: Accept that other person for all that it is and forgive yourself for triggering anything negative from that contact. The other one is merely a reflection of yourself in some way or another and you have prepared for your mutual encounter subconsciously long before it actually happened. Your thoughts create your reality and hence synchronicity brought you two together. Embrace that challenge and radiate love and respect. Maybe even give a hug if you think it is appropriate in that situation. That might be the most powerful thing you have ever done!
Diet
We are what we eat. And the majority of the world eats poisonous food, utter garbage and plastic. We are all able to inform ourselves these days very easily about nutrition and health. If you still eat meat every day, drink sugar liquids, consume mostly processed food and think that dairy products are actually good for you than you might want to start reading into these topics. There are many new research studies that clearly show how dangerous ignorance in that regard can be.
I am honestly not sure what the solution is as I am not a fan of labels like vegetarian or vegan and the group behaviour that comes with it. But you should at least make sure to become totally conscious about what you put into your body and that you get some kind of nutrition from it. We all knew it all our lives: fresh fruits and vegetables are making us healthy and are better for the ecosystem. Nevertheless, the majority of food around the world is processed which basically means dead and full of chemicals and garbage. By changing your diet you finally start to allow your body and mind to work as intended by nature.
Money
The way you are making your living is not just affecting you. It affects everybody. The same goes for how you spend your money. If you think that your occupation is in any way harmful to other beings than it is time to find something new. We are all free and no job in the world legitimizes your actions. You can provide for yourself and your family in so many ways. Inform yourself and put your antenna out for a better way of earning an income. Maybe cryptocurrencies hold something for you in place.
Even more importantly should we be aware for what products and services we are creating an increased demand by consuming them. Stop spending your hard earned money for those things that created harm to others during its production or to yourself by being near or even within you when it comes to food. We live in a world of abundance and you usually have the choice between something that was created unethically and something that benefitted everyone somehow. This includes food, clothes, electronics, wrapping material, cosmetics, entertainment and much more. Your money decides which product will grow in demand - even if you are just one single person.
Politics
This is a tough one and again just my personal opinion. There is no political system in the world that is actually good. And yet we are all fighting for how our own beliefs are superior to the other. And how dangerous the other ones are. It is devide and conquer all over the place. The only ones who are profiting from that schism are the elites who seem to play all systems against each other while making trillions in the process. And we end up in the trenches fighting our brothers and sisters because we believe the manipulation from our governments and mainstream media who keep us in constant fear of the other.
Ideas like libertarianism, voluntaryism or anarchy sound pretty good to me and are all very popular here on Steemit. But are they right or better? I honestly don't know but they are still part of the game of division. There is no need for labels and idealism. Just being a good neighbour is all that we need. As soon as you give into fear of the other who potentially might hurt your way of living and needs to put into place by rules, laws, force and control, you basically create that into your reality.
There is an interesting debate between anarchist Larken Rose and statist Lauren Southern at Anarchapulco 2018 and both have good points but none have the answer. Nobody has. But if you cannot trust in the general goodness of people than you will create that kind of reality for yourself. Hence, you should continue to strive for improving yourself in order to be the change you want to see in this world.
Deprogram Yourself
We are all going through the propaganda and mind-control machine all our lives. Everything in our society is designed by very smart people who understand how the human psyche works. Through school, television, advertisment, main stream science and main stream media we are molded into a uniform block of clay. The mystery of life, ancient mythologies, spirituality, metaphysics and any other form of free thinking are ridiculed and put into a box for loonies.
This all has a massive effect on our mind. Memories are formed via association and repetition. Just by hearing a lie often enough it will become a part of our reality. Even if you think you have already changed for the better, decades old programming can be triggered just by activating one thought which will then continue the programmed association in your brain. You don't even know how it happened that you had that bad thought again. Becoming aware of these patterns and changing them is a life-long struggle and requires constant self-observation.
Conclusion
In order for the world to change into the better I have to change myself. No, not you. You can do whatever you want. I have no authority over any of you and I don't want to have that either. But for me to live in the reality that I envision for myself there is only myself who has to take responsibility. So all these concepts above are just a reminder for me rather than a lecture for you. Still, I hope that this article will inspire some thoughts in you and maybe helps you to become a better you by finding your own answers for how to accomplish that.
