We live in times where we have gotten completely used to the benefits of our modern technology, some might say we have even become dependent on it.
To many people the mere idea of going out into nature for a few weeks without hot running water, an electric stove and or a telephone will cause outright panic, and I have experienced this for myself the first time I went to visit a rainbow gathering where there are no flushing toilets, no refridgerators and no electric lights built into the walls. There are no walls either^^ Just handmade craftsmanship and skill to tackle the basic requirements of living in nature.
A blessing and a curse
Ever since my time at the rainbow gathering in 2012 I have recognized how deep this dependency on technology actually goes within our society. We expect it to be there and work for us like we expect the sun to rise in the morning. But if you are familiar with the utterly unstable condition of the debt-based monetary system, geopolitics and an entire economy built on a finite resource (crude oil) you might be open to the idea that none of our gizmos, gadgets and lifestyle dependencies may be here tomorrow. Well, they may still be here, but they require constant electricity which we don't produce ourselves.
We go to supermarkets to buy food we have not grown ourselves. We live in houses built by large machines and construction companies we pay with money drawn from ATMs.
In short: If the system were to crash tomorrow and we would be 'forced' to figure the basics of life out for ourselves without all these fleeting societal achievements - we might feel lost.
Hell, I would not put it past some people to get so fearful that they would jump out of a window because of having to face the fact that our way of life was largely a convenience granted to us on debt loans.
Alright, alright, can we please get to the light at the end of the tunnel?
Yes! The media work I want to share today has to do with precisely that: Learning about ways to become self-sufficient again so that we feel confident to know the basics for times of uncertainty.
One of the most brilliant youtube channels I have ever discovered is that of "Primitive Technology", a dude who goes into the forest and starts building houses, tools, and garden patches completely from scratch.
That's right, you won't even need a hammer to get started, he will show you how to build one with your bare hands. And all sorts of other tools for that matter.
If we knew about these mindblowingly simple but effective methods of self-reliability any of us could be dropped into a forest tomorrow and would be able to make something happen, much like our ancestors did thousands of years ago before mass-produced technology and our dependence on it took over our lives completely.

I love this channel so much because it doesn't use a single word. Any child could understand these videos, and there is no need for language. In that way it can be universally applied as a learning opportunity from people all over the Earth, because no prerequisites are necessary to understand what he is doing on screen, other than being familiar with the emre existence of wood, dirt, leaves and trees :p
It makes me proud to see so many subs on his channel as well, it must be one of the largest on youtube - which is awesome! I can totally recommend you dig a bit on the channel on your own and look for topics that interest you just to see how easy it can be, and maybe next time you are out with friends in nature, start dabbling with these techniques a bit to get the hang of it. Practice makes perfect.
And when the next bank run comes (and mathematically speaking that is an inevitability) you will feel solid and confident that life will not end. Quite the contrary. Back to the roots <3
And if we figure out a better way beforehand - awesome! But knowing about these techniques would become the the "worst case scenario", and that could almost be considered a blessing. Instead of "the end of the world".
