I got my new shiny medal today in the mail, for doing the virtual race The Tortoise Creep, which was set in Thailand. The race was 155.1 miles (249.6 km). Basically, every time I go walking someplace, to the grocery store or chalking, I plug the miles into the race website, and when I finish, I get SHINIES!
They always send you a little funny card with the medals, and this one is like opposite day for me - I am the anti-beast mode, but whatevs. I like my shinies. ;)
My current race is called Shake Your Tail Feather, and it's set in Sri Lanka for 78.5 miles.
I started doing these virtual races last year, and toward the end of the year, they were really motivating me to get out and log miles, even to go running for the sake of running. In December, I did the most miles in one month I had ever done - 50 - and then, my energy tanked hard. Instead of finishing the Creep in 3-4 months, I finished it in NINE. That's right - I've been working on it all year. Woo, nameless illness that I've given up on getting help for. But I won't get into that rant. I was feeling really hopeless about it yesterday.
beast mode?
Yeah, I'm wearing girl clothes today. Fuck it. I wanted a sweater.
the wall o' shinies
Funny how last year I thought I'd be running live races by now, and how this year I can neither afford it nor move that much without being down for the count for a week after.
Oh, well. I'll go now before I start whining too hard. I'm just in Fuckitalâ„¢ Mode today.
Be good, Steemit.
