Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be shrunken down to just inches in height while the whole world remains the same? I know this is not a new concept, having witnessed this already in popular movies like Ant-man.
But it is really fun to think about what normal life would look like if we had that ability to be shrunken down. By the way, recently MIT scientists announced that they can shrink objects down to the nanoscale. So, who knows one day this bizarre thing could actually come true!
Recently I came to know about a movie called "Downsizing" starring one of my favourite actors, Matt Damon which is all about this very concept. Due to problems like overpopulation and such, people decide to get shrunken into tiny humans so that they consume much less resources.
I don't know if that will ever be even remotely considered in real life even if the technology becomes realy someday. Regardless, it is quite interesting to think how your life would be if you are really tiny.
A Whole New World....
Perspectives matter a lot and I think that is where the initial biggest shock would come after getting shrunk. Everything would be huge. I mean every single thing. Your furniture, your pets, your phone, other normal people. It would seem to you that you've entered this whole new alien world.
I guess your voice would change too as your vocal chords got shrunk as well so you may end up sounding like chipmunk maybe? I am just guessing here. Anyways, I think it is true that you would require much less resources to survive. A grain of rice should make you feel full, right? LOL
As far as shelter is concerned, I guess I personally would rather have a custom made home made according to my shrunken size just like in Downsizing. It is just impractical to live in a huge house when you are that tiny. I mean, you wouldn't be able to use anything anyways.
But there is also a downside to getting shrunk. Take insects for example. They would be much bigger relative to your size and so, you could be on the constant lookout for new "threats". A rat would be able to wrestle you to the ground and eat you for dinner I guess!
On second thoughts, getting shrunk doesn't seem like a great idea after all, but each to his own, I guess!
