Seeing that we are half way through the week and we have conquered the tough early half of the week, I thought I would provide a bit of silver indulgence to all the silver stackers out there and for anyone else who enjoys photos of shiny objects.
In this post I am sharing some photos of the 2011 Australian Kookaburra coins designed and produced by The Perth Mint. All of the silver fans among us will know The Perth Mint well, for those of you who are new to silver coins, The Perth Mint is one of the leading mints in the world and produces stunning coins in gold, silver and platinum. The designs from Perth Mint are some of the most sort after designs across the world.
1oz Silver 2011 Australian Kookaburra - Obverse
The two photos above show what sealed roll of 1 ounce coins looks like when you buy them direct from the mint. In a sealed roll there are twenty coins per roll. The Perth Mint also sells these rolls in boxes; each box contains five sealed rolls of twenty 1 ounce coins. If you bought a full box of these 2011 Kookaburra coins at the time of their release you would have got 100 ounces of these beautiful coins.
I am running daily post series at the moment where I share specific information about The Perth Mint Kookaburra series coins, so check out some of my previous posts if you would like to see the other designs and key information about these coins.
10oz Silver 2011 Australian Kookaburra
One of the things that really love about the Perth Mint, is that when they release a coin design, they do not only release it in the 1 ounce size. For silver coin designs, they generally release a 1/2oz, 1oz, 2oz, 5oz, 10oz and 1kg version of the coin. The photo above is an example of the 10 ounce coin for the 2011 Kookaburra design. This photo unfortunately does not do the 10 ounce coin justice. When you hold the 10 ounce coin in your hand, you really get a true appreciation for the detail and quality of the design of these coins. In a future post I will share some photos of the different sizes of the coins to provide a bit of context.
To conclude this post I will share a couple more photos of the 10 ounce coin showing the Obverse and Reverse designs, enjoy!
Reverse Design:
Depicts a kookaburra perched on a tree stump. The design includes an inscription 'Australian Kookaburra', and the year 2011.
