Greetings, Hive community! We are Team Bits, a group of enthusiastic learners venturing into the world of blockchain technology. As beginners, we embarked on an incredible journey during the CODE HIVE: Hackathon with one goal in mind: to create something meaningful that can make a real-world impact. This is how EnRoute was born—a decentralized app designed to assist those new to a city in navigating through the often-complex world of public transportation. The team members are Jessica Saikia and Debojit Dutta.
We first learned about Hive through this hackathon. During this event, Hive caught our attention with its secure, scalable, and decentralized features. The power of the Hive blockchain, particularly its seamless integration with HIVE Keychain for secure logins, made it an ideal choice for us to build EnRoute. Hive’s unique approach to data security and transparency aligned perfectly with our vision for this app.
Idea:
The core idea for EnRoute was born from a personal experience in Japan, where the public transport system felt confusing and difficult to navigate. Every trip brought new challenges, and the need for a solution became clear—an app that could guide users step-by-step through unfamiliar public transport systems, allowing them to travel confidently and efficiently.
About our project:
EnRoute was our hackathon project, it’s a solution designed to simplify urban commuting for newcomers in a city. Our app allows users to access the nearest available public transportation stops such as bus stops, train stops from where they can take a public transport to reach their desired destination. It also allows users to access the nearest stops to the destination.
Here’s a quick look at its features:
- Login with HIVE Keychain: Ensuring a smooth and secure login process.
- Transportation Options: After login, users can select options like bus, train, or rickshaw.
- Location and Destination Tracking: The app takes the user’s location, displaying nearby stops, and also suggests the closest stop near their destination.
- Broadcasting Transactions on Hive Blockchain: Any kind of transactions such as account creation, sign in, etc are being broadcasted in Hive Blockchain
Tech stack used:
- Frontend: Android Studio and Kotlin
- Hive Blockchain
- HIVE Keychain
- Location Services API
Working demo of our Dapp:
As beginners in blockchain technology, this hackathon was an incredible learning experience. Working with Hive and exploring decentralized applications opened our eyes to the potential of blockchain in everyday life. It was rewarding to present EnRoute and we’re grateful for the chance to showcase our work on the Hive platform.
Thank you for joining us on this journey—we’re excited to keep exploring what blockchain technology has to offer!
