I am someone who tries to use technical devices as long as possible (that means as long as they work reliably), so for example I don't buy a new mobile phone only because company xyz has just released a new model.
However, everything has its time, and as chance would have it, my current smartphone, the good old Huawei Mate 8 (to which I owe many a nice photo published here) and also my reliable 'workhorse', my TUXEDO Linux notebook, are literally falling apart. I'm sure some of you have already noticed that I am constantly correct my own comments in Discord, because the broken keyboard of the notebook either leaves out letters or produces too many.
My new smartphone "Huawei Mate 20 Pro"
In short, it was time to act, which I finally did (respectively in the case of the laptop shortly will do): a few days ago my brand new phone, "Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Dual Sim, 128 GB, Emerald Green", ordered from clevertronic.de, was delivered.

Huawei is currently the focus of interest not only because of its mobile phones, which in my opinion are extremely high-performant, but also because it is the main supplier of many companies involved in the expansion of the 5G network because of its technological lead.
Especially the USA urge European countries to avoid technology supplied by Huawei because they suspect the company of espionage. To my ears, this sounds no different than a billy goat warning that a sheep might be eating grass. While Edward Snowden reported extensively on back doors built into US software and hardware, and in Asia, US companies such as Cisco suffered sales losses as a result, the only back door proven in Huawei network routers to date, Headwater, was used ten years ago in a large-scale hacker attack of the US on Huawei ...
I am not claiming at all that the purchase of key technology from China wouldn't pose any risks, however, I consider the outrage on the part of the USA to be extremely hypocritical and see the real problem in the fact that Europe is lagging behind - as so often - in terms of early recognition of the potential, own further development and carrying out of future technologies (instead, it's obviously more urgent to take the last wind out of the sails of the European Internet community by means of escalating bureaucratic regulations and counterproductive ideas like upload filters).

I am not an experienced mobile phone tester and would therefore like to limit myself to my purely subjective first impression at this point. For readers interested in more detailed technical specifications, I refer to the data sheet of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
By the way, it's interesting to note that Huawei builds its own processors. The Mate 20 Pro uses the Kirin 980, the first of its kind for Android devices to be manufactured using the 7 nm process, which both increases processor speed and improves energy efficiency.
The build quality of the mobile phone is beyond any doubt. In addition, the beautifully shaped chassis, which is rounded towards the sides, fits comfortably in the hand.
In addition to good battery performance, what is important to me about a Smarthphone are above-average sound characteristics when listening to music and a good camera (I don't own any other cameras besides those of my mobile phones).
I can also reassure purists who even in 2019 above all still want to use a telephone to telephone: it works - I tried it myself. :)
The small headphones provide an amazingly good sound experience when listening to music, and even the basses of @andyjaypowell's self-composed hardcore techno reach the ear clearly and powerfully.
As for the camera, I was already very satisfied with the 'old' predecessor, the Huawei Mate 8. Only when photographing extremely small objects (ants, very small spiders or beetles ...) it occasionally reached its limits. My first impression is that my new mobile phone is not yet perfect in this respect, but has improved considerably (although I'm certainly not yet familiar with all the subtleties of the Leica triple camera).

Bottom line
With the rather expensive Huawei Mate 20 Pro you get an elegant, pleasant to use and very powerful smartphone, which in my opinion is worth its money - at least if it will perform loyal services for as long as its predecessor. :)

Ich bin jemand, der versucht, technische Geräte solange wie möglich (wie sie also zuverlässig funktionieren) zu nutzen, d. h. ich kaufe z. B. kein neues Mobiltelefon, nur weil Firma xyz gerade ein neues Modell auf den Markt gebracht hat.
Allerdings hat alles seine Zeit, und wie es der Zufall will, sind sowohl mein aktuelles Smartphone, das gute alte Huawei Mate 8 (welchem ich so manches schöne, hier veröffentlichte Foto zu verdanken habe) als auch mein zuverlässiges 'Arbeitstier', mein Linux Notebook der Marke TUXEDO, gerade buchstäblich am zerfallen. Bestimmt ist dem ein oder anderen bereits aufgefallen, dass ich meine Kommentare im Discord ständig nachkorrigieren muss, weil die kaputte Tastatur des Notebooks mal wieder Buchstaben entweder weglässt oder zu viele von ihnen produziert.

Kurzer Ausflug in die Politik
Die Firma Huawei steht derzeit nicht nur aufgrund ihrer, meiner Meinung nach äußerst performanten, Mobiltelefone im Fokus des Interesses, sondern auch deshalb, weil sie, ihres technologischen Vorsprungs wegen, Hauptlieferant vieler am Ausbau des 5G-Netzes beteiligter Firmen ist.
Insbesondere die USA drängen europäische Länder dazu, von Huawei gelieferte Technologie, aufgrund vom Unternehmen ausgehender Spionagegefahr, zu meiden. In meinen Ohren klingt das nicht anders, als warnte ein Ziegenbock davor, dass ein Schaf möglicherweise Gras fressen würde. Während Edward Snowden ausführlich über in US-Soft- und -Hardware eingebaute Hintertüren berichtete, und in Asien daraufhin US-Firmen wie Cisco unter Umsatzeinbußen litten, wurde die einzige bisher in Huawei-Netzwerkroutern nachgewiesene Hintertür, Headwater, vor zehn Jahren eingesetzt, und zwar im Rahmen eines groß angelegten Hackingangriffs der USA auf Huawei ...
Ich behaupte keineswegs, der Bezug von Schlüsseltechnologie aus China berge keine Risiken, empfinde die Empörung seitens der USA jedoch als äußerst scheinheilig und sehe das eigentliche Problem darin, dass Europa betreffs frühzeitigen Erfassens ihres Potentials, eigener Weiterentwicklung und Nutzung von Zukunftstechnologien - wie so oft - hinterher hinkt (stattdessen ist es ja offensichtlich dringender, der hiesigen Internetgemeinde mittels ausufernder bürokratischer Vorschriften und kontraproduktiver Ideen wie Upload-Filtern den letzten Wind aus den Segeln zu nehmen).

Ich bin kein erfahrener Handy-Tester und möchte mich deshalb an dieser Stelle auf meinen rein subjektiven ersten Eindruck beschränken. Dem an detaillierteren technischen Spezifikationen interessierten Leser verweise ich an dieser Stelle auf das Datenblatt des Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
Interessant ist übrigens, dass Huawei eigene Prozessoren baut. Im Mate 20 Pro kommt der Kirin 980 zur Anwendung, welcher als erster seiner Art für Android-Geräte im 7 nm-Verfahren gefertigt wird, was sowohl die Prozessorgeschwindigkeit erhöht als auch die Energieeffizienz verbessert.
Die Verarbeitungsqualität des Mobiltelefons ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Darüber hinaus liegt das formschöne und zu den Seiten hin abgerundete Gehäuse gut in der Hand.
Wichtig sind mir bei einem Smarthphone neben einer guten Akku-Leistung insbesondere überdurchschnittliche Klangeigenschaften beim Musikhören sowie eine gute Kamera (weitere Kameras neben denen meiner Handys besitze ich nicht). Auch Puristen, die selbst im Jahr 2019 mit einem Telefon immer noch vor allem telefonieren können wollen, kann ich beruhigen: Funktioniert - ich habe es selbst ausprobiert. :)
Die kleinen Kopfhörer vermitteln beim Musikhören ein erstaunlich gutes Sound-Erlebnis, wobei selbst die Bässe von @andyjaypowell's selbst komponiertem Hardcore-Techno klar und kraftvoll ans Ohr dringen.
Was die Kamera betrifft, war ich bereits mit dem 'alten' Vorgängermodell, Huawei Mate 8, in der Regel sehr zufrieden. Nur bei der Aufnahme extrem kleiner Objekte (Ameisen, sehr kleine Spinnen oder Käfer ...) stieß es des Öfteren an seine Grenzen. Mein erster Eindruck ist, dass sich auch mein neues Handy in dieser Hinsicht noch nicht als perfekt, aber doch deutlich verbessert erweist (wobei ich sicherlich noch nicht mit allen Feinheiten der verbauten Leica-Triple-Kamera vertraut bin).

Fazit
Ein zweifellos nicht billiges, aber sehr schönes, angenehm zu handhabendes und sehr leistungsfähiges Smartphone, das sein Geld allemal wert ist - zumindest dann, wenn es ebenso lange treue Dienste verrichten wird wie sein Vorgänger. :)
