Spent Thursday afternoon building another Hugelkultur for another planting of potatoes that I will be planting this coming week. First I dug a trench where I wanted the bed to be located. Filled the trench with hard wood logs and branches and then smaller sticks and twigs. Then I piled some manure, coco shells, perlite, and peat moss mixed together on top of the sticks. Then I brought the top level dirt I had removed with the trench, filtering for rocks, back onto the pile of debris in the trench. Makes for a nice planting bed. Hope to see some results this coming fall.
I also received in the mail a greenhouse kit for an easy build. I planned to house a lot of trays of greens and to use that as a seedling starter area.. more so than my sisters old room. Seeing a lot of life out of all the things I have planted so far, it is hard to keep up with it all.
My neck got so incredibly burnt that Thursday, whilst building the greenhouse. The Sun was fierce and it sure seems to scald my skin faster and faster each Summer season.
