"Safeguarding snakes is not my calling. It is only everything for me," says Suresh.
Suresh is 41-years of age and an occupant of Sreekaryam town in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram region. In any case, he's better known by a moniker that is related with him subsequent to having saved more than 50,000 snakes up until this point: Vava Suresh (Baby Suresh, which is the thing that his mom called him).
Look for Vava Suresh on YouTube and you'll run over various recordings of him getting snakes in different ways (see a case beneath). This Class 10 graduate is among the principal wind preservationists in the state and has been taking a shot at saving the reptiles throughout the previous 27 years.
Suresh says he built up an interest for snakes when he was a 12-year-old, and what was only a rage at first finished the years turned into a full time calling.
"The most recent 27 years, finding snakes and saving them by securely transporting them back to their characteristic natural surroundings has been the sole fixation of my life," he says in a telephonic meeting.
Suresh's normal day begins with a telephone call from somebody who has recognized a snake in their home or their range. Now and again these calls take him over the state. He doesn't have a settled rate for his administrations and says he cheerfully acknowledges whatever individuals give him.
"At whatever point I go to safeguard snakes from individuals' homes, 90 percent of the time I don't get paid for it. It is on account of those individuals are poor. How might I approach them for cash?
"Snakes just go into needy individuals' homes. Have you at any point seen a rich man's home invaded by snakes?" he says.
A few non-government associations like Rotary Club and Lions Club frequently approach to give money related guide. Suresh says he likewise gets money related help from numerous companions and well wishers abroad.
He hasn't gotten much help from the legislature, however was offered work.
"I was given an offer to act as a conservator on a pitiful every day wage which was not a lasting employment. I didn't take it up as it would have limited my range of work and would have paid me substantially less," he says.
Suresh says he's been nibbled by snakes 3,701 times, and has been hospitalized a few times. Of course, his relatives have exhorted him commonly to locate a substitute vocation. Be that as it may, Suresh says his 10 treks to the ICU so far just persuaded him further.
A profitable partner, he says, has been veterinary specialist at Thiruvanathapuram Zoo, Dr Jacob Alexander, who has guaranteed Suresh dependably had neutralizing agent venom when required.
Notwithstanding when he's not saving snakes, he's occupied.
"When I am not caught up with safeguarding snakes, I give classes about snakes and their venom for the overall population particularly in schools and foundations. As it were, you can state that I labor for 365 days," says Suresh.
He has one noteworthy grouse against the general population he helps: that they're apprehensive about snakes and consider every one of them destructive.
" Be it in Ayurveda or Allopathy, it has been demonstrated different circumstances that a snake's venom assumes an instrumental part in making life sparing medications. Still it is truly pitiful that snakes are viewed as dangerous and its venom is named as toxin"
Suresh says that he will keep working in this field till his demise and it's certainly not for setting records or for the many honors he has gotten.
"I began working much before individuals in India began discussing all these prominent Nat Geo and Discovery stations. Truly I couldn't care less much about honors," he says
