This was quite an incredible display of fortitude by the Microwave! This test was held at a range of about 13 yards.
In this test we discovered that the microwave was capable of withstanding a close range shot from a high powered rifle. Upon further inspection we found the object within that likely stopped the round was the transformer inside of the Microwave.
The transformer consists of a rigid iron core with copper windings that would prove extremely difficult for any Firearm to penetrate cleanly. In this test we saw the round tear through every layer of sheet metal on the microwave with ease, aside from the back side. It is entirely likely that , had the round missed the transformer, it would have gone clean through the microwave.
It would likely be a risky move to hide behind a microwave in any active shooter type situation, although perhaps it is not the worst thing to do depending on the situation.
