There can be no denying the fact that, for most of us, hardfork 19 (codenamed: "Equality", which I thought was pretty cool) was a really, really good thing. But with positive change there can also be not so positive changes. I want to take this chance to discuss my experience with the hardfork and my general impressions on how it's effected Steemit and how it's effected my posts personally.
When hardfork 19 (henceforth referred to in this article simply as 'the hardfork') first went live a week ago I was thrilled at the effect it had. I got my first 100 dollar payout post which was awesome. A lot of my posts were nearly doubling in their normal payout.
Then something happened...
Mysteriously, my posts began getting smaller payouts and fewer votes once people settled into the changes of the new hardfork. It might be that, initially, people were used to giving 100 percent of their vote (or higher portions of their vote). It might be that people were used to voting for more people. Whatever the case, suffice to say I was concerned. Was I doing something wrong?
I've come to the conclusion that I haven't been.
You see, while it's true that I get less super high paying posts than I used to, it's also true that my payouts in general have become much more stable. And, occasionally, there's the outlier to sweeten the deal. This does two things: it makes it much simpler for me to gauge responses to my posts and it makes it a lot easier to gauge changes in activity on the platform.
Of course, I could be wrong about everything and my next post in this series could reveal some new, better insight that I can't see right now. I've just started really paying attention to the platform and my involvement in it in detail (been a little over a week, I think) so we'll see.
All in all, I'm still glad about the hardfork. I think it'll make my journey a lot smoother in the long run.
