This Image from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows impressive views of recently discovered AND confirmed views of Water ICE on MARS
Thick bands of ice have been spotted in steep cliff faces in many locations on Mars.
We've seen ice before... we know ice covers the poles: both Water Ice and CO2 ice.
A radar instrument on the MRO has detected signatures of thick, buried ice across the planet’s middle.
We never really knew how much, or where.
Now, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter science team has discovered what appear to be 100-meter thick layers of pure water ice buried just beneath the surface, and exposed in the sides of cliffs and crater walls!
