It has been quite some time since I wrote something and I missed you guys! My schedule has been chaotic, to say the least... but today I wanted to talk about the new Foundation Set and Frontier Mode for Splinterlands!!
The first step for the aspiring Battle Mage should be to visit the Mage Academy to learn the ropes!!
Trust me... you want to learn the ropes this way... the way we learned back in the day... yeeesh...
Yeah... it was like that... and still is if you wanna ape in I guess...
Instead... you should start your journey at the Waur Medge Academy here:
So - why am I so excited about Foundations and Frontier??
Because it recaptures WHY I JOINED SPLINTERLANDS!! When I first started, you could win DEC, SPS and most importantly... CARDS that you could then sell/trade to get other cards you needed... just by playing!!
But there's more to it than that! This is a well thought out onramp to Splinterlands!! It's no longer: try the game or spend a bajillion dollars...
How it works:
First, a new mage enters the academy... they learn the basics and get a set of Soulbound Cards from the Foundations set, to start their journey!
After battling their way through the academy and getting the basic set of cards... they can enter Frontier Mode and start playing against other humans!!
Ok... after the Academy, then what... well... you could still Ape in to play in Modern but I don't recommend this just yet...
You could APE IN MOAR... and play Wild or Survival - I really don't recommend that!
What you should probably do... is start playing Frontier Mode and earning some more Foundation cards!!
The best part is... if you decide you want to dip your toes into Frontier Mode... the more common cards cost $.04? $.05?
Even better, Frontier is capped at Gold Level, so the max level cards aren't hundreds or even THOUSANDS of dollars!!
Seriously - look at this! A max level Frontier Common:
Should cost about $1.80 to $3.00 for this row!
60 Copies needed to merge into 1 Max Level Copy thus 60 x $.03-$.05 = $1.80-$3.00!
On top of that... Frontier Mode is Human Only!! That means you can't operate a Bot to play all day and earn a bajillion Rewards to devalue the Cards and Assets!
Speaking of... The best part, in my opinion... is that you can win CARDS in Frontier Mode!!!
That's right!! Playable, tradeable, sellable... burnable??? Cards!!!!! No more Soulbound for these guys!!! You win'em and you can sell'em to get your missing cards!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
All in all, the Foundation Set and Frontier Mode are HUGE WINS in my book... and they're just getting started!!
